Description: This may look like an ordinary "S" cam brake shoe but its not . To overcome the difficult task of a truck/trailer brake reline ie.removal of wheels , hubs , bearing cleaning , seal replacement and the associated mess and time/downtime involved in a reline i came up with the idea of a two piece brake shoe . The lined portion of my shoe when worn down is quickly removed from the rear of the drum . All that is needed is a right angle air wrench . With the removal of three large headed bolts which hold the two shoe segments together its an easy matter to withdraw the lined section and replace it with a new one . Normal bearing maintanance would then be done at a quiet time of the year when the truck is not busy . If the loading sheds had a pit in the floor the mechanics could be under the vehicle as its being loaded/unloaded as the forklifts would have clear access to the trailer as all equipment and personal would be underneath out of harms way . It is estimated a truck and trailer could be relined in under an hour with two mechanics performing the work .
