Fendt Vario 828 Sets High Fuel Efficiency Standards

Fendt Vario Line sets record fuel efficiency standards

DULUTH, Ga., (Mar 28, 2011) – AGCO, Your Agriculture Company (NYSE:AGCO), a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of agricultural equipment, announced today that its Fendt 828 Vario tractor set a record for fuel efficiency in independent tests. Powered by a new Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) stage 3b /Tier IV interim compliant engine, the 280 horsepower Fendt 828 Vario achieved the unprecedented low fuel consumption of just 245 grams per kilowatt hour. The test was conducted by PowerMix at the DLG Test Centre in Germany, the recognized authority for European agricultural machinery fuel consumption testing. The 828 Vario’s fuel consumption was 19% below the industry average for its horsepower class measured by the PowerMix test of profi magazine and DLG.

Fendt, with its Vario CVT transmission, made fuel economy a top priority while implementing emissions stage 3b /Tier IV interim standards for their technology driven products. SCR engines have been used in Europe for more than five years in on-road applications. The combustion efficiency in the SCR process can be optimized without the use of EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) or VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) technology and without an increase in the vehicles cooling requirements. The competitive advantage of SCR engines is improved fluid economy, reliability and durability, all while reducing exhaust emissions for a cleaner environment. The new 800 Vario series incorporates Fendt’s efficient technology platform with the time-proven SCR technology to produce world class performance and fuel economy.
