HOUSTON, TX (July 24, 2014) – Mahindra USA offers a new scholarship program to support high school students pursuing college degrees in the agricultural industry.

HOUSTON, TX (July 24, 2014) – Mahindra USA introduces a unique scholarship program specifically designed to support urban youth interested in pursuing a career in the agricultural industry. In a joint effort with the National FFA Organization, Mahindra will award five, $2,500 merit-based scholarships to high school students from Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston or Indianapolis entering college in the Fall of 2015. Scholarship winners will be selected based on their commitment to pursuing an agricultural industry related secondary degree, and their current passion and leadership in high school agriculture activities as well as academic performance.

Mahindra USA, the world’s number one selling tractor brand based on volume, is dedicated to playing an integral part in securing the future of agriculture in the U.S. Supporting students in attaining college degrees in ag-related fields will continue to bring new talent and resources to the forefront. Mahindra also invests in several other ag-focused scholarship programs including: four Women In Ag scholarships in partnership with the FFA and 12 Mahindra Texas Pride scholarships offered jointly with the Career and Technology Association of Texas, Inc.

“An important component of Mahindra’s Rise initiative is to drive positive change. Partnering with the FFA to invest in the future leaders of the agriculture industry as they pursue their career dreams is vitally important to our communities,” said Cleo Franklin, Mahindra USA’s Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Planning. “We are excited to fund this first-of-its-kind scholarship program to advocate, specifically, for our urban youth interested in farm and ag careers. It is vital that we continue to promote the consciousness of the farm to food connection in our next generation.”

“Today’s FFA members are tomorrow’s leaders in agriculture,” said Molly Ball, National FFA Foundation president. “We are thankful that Mahindra is helping us provide premier leadership, personal growth and careers success to FFA members and agricultural education students.”
