M5400 Kubota
Great Tractor
Model Year: 2000

Great tractor gets great fuel economy. Can go 2-3 days on a tank of fuel. Runs strong. Not too big for small jobs, and not too small for the big stuff.

Pros: Fuel economy. Good power. Right size.
Cons: None.

Great people to deal with. They delivered it to Cape cod for short money! Bought Kubota M5400 used, wood BB72 mower, Wood Hoe and a Quick attach bucket with mounting plate, not a Kubota product. The tractor 4x4 is all I could ask for. I ran a ford 3400 industrial 4x2 for many years. This on kicks the pants off the other tractor. Of course I am hard on my equipment, as a local farmer will say. I form filled the tires after using beat & salt. Never another flat. 500 each rear well worth the money! Fronts 500 ea. Well worth the money! This was done at Ken Jones in Worcester Ma. I own a 16 hp MF 1010/Kubota ZD331 mower. Happy with.

Pros: Good center of gravity; awesome pulling power; great a brush cutting; really take the abuse. The 10' woods hoe is wonderful. Should have thought of a sub frame though 3 pt hitch does work. I break arms, linkage and mounting bracket often, along with bending hydraulic pistons.
Cons: The quick attack mounting plate is a bad design. I have had dump problems, pin lockage, handles strip made by UTI. But I still and on my 3rd one!

Kubota M5400 DT
Model Year: 1999

Great tractor so far, Use it for general utility work including firewood, mowing hay (Hesston PT 10), raking, teddering, baling both round and square. Also use it for moving round bales, loading manure, lime, dirt & gravel, rototilling, 3 bottom plow, bushhogging and more

Pros: Like the mechanical shuttle and gear drive tranny.
Cons: 3 pt hitch components could be built heavier, (but haven't had any issues either).

M5400 Kubota
Can't beat a Kubota
Model Year: 1998

This is my second Kubota...I may never need another one. It is extremely reliable. I change the oil, replace the battery every few years, and general maintenance cleaning and that is about it. The only issue I recall ever having with the tractor is having to replace one hydraulic hose for the front loader. I also use the rear remote hydraulics for operating a tree shear. No problems. It is plenty of horse power to shred thick KR bluestem pastures, and to move load after load of dirt and rock. I also own a BX 2450 for use in areas around the house and barn where maneuvering is more critical.

Pros: Good size tractor for 50 acres.
Cons: It is an older tractor without a hydrostatic transmission.
