4105 John Deere
Buy the 4044M Instead
Model Year: 2015

The 4005 has a light frame which bolts directly to the oil pan. If the machine is worked hard, the bolts either break off or fall out. To replace the broken ones, the engine has to be removed and the pan replaced. The others need continual tightening. This machine is only good for light duty. Don't even think of running a small square hay bailer on this machine! It is a money pit!

Pros: Runs like a champ
Cons: Had to trade mine in for a 4044M with the 4-cycle HD engine

4105 John Deere
Overall dependable
Model Year: 2016

I purchased the 4105 primarily because I needed a backhoe and the 3032E that I had would not accept one. The 4105 was my first choice when I bought the 3032E. The salesman did a fantastic job of talking me out of the backhoe. That was a first for me to have a salesman do that. I'm not sorry he did either. After a while, I determined that I needed the hoe and traded up. Overall a good choice. It's been what I needed from the beginning.

Pros: Definitely more power for running my hog
Cons: Slower than the 3032E was, no road gear so to speak

4105 John Deere
Great Tractor
Model Year: 2013

I have put 230 hours on my 4105 and 300 loader. From plowing to mowing, tilling, and snow removal it has performed everything I have asked of it and more. Good tractor for the money.

Pros: Real work horse.
Cons: Needs wieght in the back end. It will lift the wheels off the ground when lifting heavy objects

4105 John Deere
Basic & Reliable
Model Year: 2009

Here's my somewhat disjointed review: I agonized over my tractor decision, and worried that this tractor would be "enough" for my small horse farm. To date, it's done everything I need it to do. The loader specs aren't so great compared to other tractors I looked at, but it lifts overflowing buckets of gravel and can pull fence posts out of the ground. For my uses, I haven't yet found anything I couldn't lift. One disappointment: there is no JD factor kit for adding rear remotes. There are aftermarket ways, but for me it is complicated. I'd like to have a grapple one day, but it will be expensive and somewhat difficult to do. This is a basic tractor without fancy features. The 4WD works great and I haven't been able to get stuck even with R4s and muddy pastures. A suspension seat would be nice for long days mowing in the field as it gets pretty uncomfortable bouncing around. The gauges are usually "frozen" at start up, but a couple solid whacks on the dash make them work again right away every time. Although the JD quick attach system works well for loader attachments, I still hate it because I can't buy common skid steer attachments. Very rarely does a JD quick attach loader tool come up for sale on Craigslist, etc. If you want front forks for example, you have to be willing to buy price new JD forks (or pricey aftermarket forks with JD quick attach, which are rare).

Pros: Relatively inexpensive, reliable, tough enough for average users.
Cons: Possibly too basic, hard to add remotes, no skid steer quick attach option.

4105 John Deere
Loader Arms Racked
Model Year: 2008

My tractor has the loader mounted on it. The loader arms are racked from lifting something that was heavier on side than the other. The dealer would hot correct it. How can you engineer a loader system that is powerful enough to lift something but built to weak that it deforms while lifting.

Pros: Love the hyrdostatic transmission.
Cons: Loader.

4105 John Deere
Wouldn't Have Anything Else
Model Year: 0

When I got this tractor home I was impressed at the power it made when running a 6 ft bush hog in heavy grass and its stability on hills. Putting on and taking off the front loader takes about 3-5 minutes, and the ease of switching out loader implements is just as impressive. The hydro-static transmission is great no shifting other than high or low range. It holds back really well even with a loaded trailer behind, and it's the best thing I've ever owned when it comes to using the front loader, mowing, and working in the hay. I simply cant say enough about this tractor. The turbo charged diesel recovers quickly if it bogs down which is rare. Fuel usage is much better than the previous 30 hp tractor I owned.

Pros: Too many to list.
Cons: I can't say anything bad about this tractor.

JD 4105 Does It All (for Me)
Model Year: 0

The reason that I took awhile before reviewing my tractor is that, because I live in NE, Tasmania, an Island State, there were delivery delays. The tractor itself + CX300 arm & drag harrow was delivered in a respectable 5 weeks. It was the remaining implements by other manufacturers that took so long (14 weeks) to get here. Due to the good advice of a neighbor, TBN, and the JD salesman, I bought the right tractor for what I needed done. Indeed, the salesman gave me a better & less expensive option (less 'pretties', more grunt), which I went for. Getting the iMatch quick-hitch is a must-have. The JD 655 tiller is great & well worth the investment. I was nervous the first time I used it due to some known tree roots but the implement handled the roots without a problem. Other than the 4-in-1 bucket for the FEL, I purchased a combination fork lift/bale spike. The forks are easily removed, to be replaced by an all-in-one dual spike attachment. Simple.

Pros: Basic, all work. Hydraulic power steering & 'automatic' transmission.
Cons: Nothing found yet.

John Deere 4105
Model Year: 2008

The John Deere 4105 is a 42 h.p. front wheel assist which is a must with ballast or wheel weights. The size of the wheel-base is adequate for a mix of open field work or close quarters within woods, forest, and close working conditions. Attachments are available and would recommend the quick attach system.

Pros: Reliability, dependable and affordable.
Cons: Too light, needs a larger fuel capacity.

My First Tractor John Deere 4105
Model Year: 2012

As this is my first tractor, I don't have any reference to compare it to. This tractor is doing what I wanted it for. I purchased a John Deere MX6 Rotary Cutter and a Frontier RT1165 rotary tiller at the same time. Both items had a problem right out of the box. The tiller was leaking oil on the drive shaft. The cutter drive shaft cover was rubbing on the drive shaft clutch. The dealer repaired both, but it took two weeks to get parts for the cutter. Overall I am satisfied with my first tractor. I use it to maintain 8 acres of flat farm land. The first time I cut my field it was about 3 to 4 feet tall. The cutter ripped right through it. I tilled about 2 acres with no problem.

Pros: Easy to operate, plenty of power, easy on fuel.
Cons: Parking brake hard to disengage. No warning when it is on.

4105 John Deere
4105
Model Year: 2012

This tractor is a really good value for the price. It does everything I need it to do on the lines of clearing, cutting and light farm work. Its small enough to trailer it on a car hauler to my other farm but large enough to do most any task. This is the no frills version of the 4 series.

Pros: Larger size, manuverability, price.
Cons: None.

Great Machine
Model Year: 2010

In two years of using the 4105, I have been very pleased with what it delivers in the way of work.

Pros: Plenty of power for attachments and loader.
Cons: None, except I get done too soon with the work :)

4105 John Deere
Very Good Machine
Model Year: 2011

I only have 20+ hrs on her but she did everything I needed with flying colors. I traded up from a 2000 JD #790 which I purchased new. She has so much more power & the 300CX Loader lifts great and is much faster. The hydro drive is great.

Pros: Power, steering, cup holder, John Deere.
Cons: No folding ROPS, no brade on warning, no 4 WD indicator.

John Deere 4105
Model Year: 2010

A really good value for the money. I stepped up from a 1996 770 so the horsepower jump allows greater versatility. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the 20 series offers but it's a tractor that gets the job done.

Pros: Funcionality, value, it's Green !!!
Cons: Could use an indicator that tells an idiot he left the parking brake engaged...

4105 John Deere
John Deere 4105
Model Year: 2008

I bought this tractor new in 2009, just before construction of our new home. It came with 300CX and 72" Frontiers Brush Hog. When all was said and done, everything came to just shy of $25K. This is a great little tractor that has done everything I've asked it to do. I've used the loader to dig 8-10' trees out of the ground with ease. You do not need "Loadmatch" as it has plenty (40.5) of HP. Have also used a 72" Brush Hog to mow 4"+ trees 15' tall down. Very powerful! Highly recommended!

Pros: Big frame, powerful, & the best bang for your buck.
Cons: No cab option/cruise.
