755 John Deere
Perfect Little Tank! Does It All And Never Complains!
Model Year: 1999

For its size, a so-called 20 horsepower, you would think it was too small. with the loader and backhoe, I can do it all! Move rocks the size of the tractor! Small enough to get in and out without making a mess.

Pros: Perfect
Cons: They don't build them like this anymore

755 John Deere
Well Built
Model Year: 1991

This is a well manufactured machine. I have had very few issues. The mid mower runs great, and boy can the plow move the snow, even after 3,000 hours. It has good power.

Pros: Great for the size
Cons: Wish you could find new John Deere attachments for it still

755 John Deere
Hard to Beat
Model Year: 0

I used this tractor with a rear blade, belly mower, loader, box scraper and 60-inch bush hog (yes, 60-inch) for 24 years on 17 acres in Virginia. I moved tons of snow off a 1/3 mi driveway (with chains), moved many loads of firewood, bush hogged the horse pasture and maintained the driveway with the box scraper. I sold it to my great regret when the lift arms would often not go down (even with the box scraper) and the local dealer said he had no idea what was wrong and did not have a mechanic who could fix it! Great little machine.

Pros: Very rarely needed repair
Cons: None

755 John Deere
Great Little Tractor
Model Year: 1998

I love this tractor. It is front wheel assist and has the 70A loader. I bought a larger 66 horsepower John Deere 4720 and my plan was to sell this; however, I can't bring myself to part with it. The only downfall I have found is that the hydraulic pressure is limited to 2,000 psi. I wish it went to 2,500 to get some additional lift from the loader.

Pros: Very capable for the size and price, reliable, two range hydrostatic transmission is flawless
Cons: Lower hydraulic pressure limits loader lift, but still very capable

755 John Deere
1995 John Deere 755
Model Year: 1995

This is the first tractor that I've ever owned and I've only had it a month, but I am totally impressed, so far. Build quality seems excellent. It seems like a really heavy-duty tractor for only a 20 hp. It starts great and runs really well. The loader is a JD 70 and the rear blade is a 60" King Kutter. I added front and rear chains to it, so even with turf ties, it gets around great in the snow. I also added hangers on the ROPS for a chain and rope and put U-bolts through the rear fenders to protect the hazard lights.

Pros: Heavy duty, starts great, runs great, tight turning radius.
Cons: High center of gravity.

755 John Deere
Tough As Nails!
Model Year: 1991

I am the original owner and have worked this machine harder than 90% of the machines out there! I have been religious on changing the fluids at 250 hrs. for hydraulics and every 50 hrs. for the oil. It was great to find a Rotella oil in 10-30. I have had to do very minor repairs considering what this work horse has done BUT worth every penny! Better than a Timex! Keeps on Dieseling!

Pros: All.
Cons: None that to me are worth mentioning. Personal more than machine.

755 John Deere
Used 755
Model Year: 1998

I bought this tractor as I had a limited budget and wanted hydraulic shift. Very pleased with it although its getting a bit long in the tooth and now I want a new John Deere. Only problem has been electrics that some dipstick did some crap DIY work on. Luckily the manual I got on line is very detailed so I rewired the important things using John Deere parts not crap auto parts. Although I am in UK i source parts from Canada and USA and they are much better prices. If you haven't got too much work to do buy a used 755. But beware after a while you will want a new one.

Pros: Keeps on running.
Cons: Getting old now.

This Tractor Will Sell You On a Deere
Model Year: 1980

Did I really need a tractor when I bought it? No. But I have been able to do so many things with it since I bought it, that I do not want to be without one. I have cleared snow, which we only get once every 3-4 years, removed hurricane debris, cleared land, dug water lines (900ft), made yard flower beds, dug post holes. I want to help volunteer to help keep our new sidewalk through our village cleared and maintain the roadway better than the state does. So I am looking for a side frail cutter and TractorByNet sent me to Orsi 30 cut that fits my need perfect, but cost is so high (more than I paid for my tractor and accessories) that I am trying to get a grant to help with the purchase.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: When you get one that you enjoy so much you want a bigger one.

755 John Deere
755 for 25 Years
Model Year: 1988

Hi, I've had my JD 755 for 25 years and have found it to be be an excellent machine. I've only had 2 problems in the 25 years. First was a hard hydraulic line leak and second a fuel delivery problem. I was able to get clues on the fuel problem here on the forums. They lead me to finding a corrosion problem on a fuse. It was very helpful for the fix. The 755 has been a great machine and TractorByNet a great source of information.

Pros: Perfect size machine.
Cons: Rollover bar height restricts moving the machine in an enclosed trailer.

755 John Deere
JD 755 MFWD Compact Tractor
Model Year: 1995

A well built rugged compact tractor with big tractor functionality on a smaller scale. Somewhat limited power at 20hp, but still performs well as a compact tractor. Mod 70 front end loader is the most useful feature. 60" belly finish mower performs well. It's helpful to mount wheels in the wide-tract position to increase stability. Turf tires are great for homeowner use. MFWD when on dirt/rock is something I couldn't live without now that I've experienced the advantages, even with the locking differential.

Pros: High availability of parts through JD, rugged attachments, MFWD.
Cons: Price runs a little high.

755 John Deere
John Deere 755 Diesel 4 Wheel Assist
Model Year: 1996

My experience with this tractor has been nothing but flawless. I bought this tractor with only 600 hours on it and now it has almost 1300 hours. I have a loader on it as well as a 60 inch mid mount mower. My wife and I have about 4 acres of lawn that was cleared of brush and stumps. Not the perfect lawn, but this tractor holds up well to the rough terrain. 3 years ago, I bought a second John Deere 755 diesel for parts. The engine was severely over heated and only 100 psi compression. This tractor had a 60 inch snow blower and 60 inch mower deck and a steel cab. The following winter I bought the factory repair manuals and overhauled the engine and currently have put about 300 hours on it with out any problems. I have recently bought a 48 inch rear tiller for these tractor and they handle it quite nicely.

Pros: John Deere 755 Diesel mfwd excellent compact tractor.
Cons: Parts are expensive but the internet does help at times.

John Deere Model 755
Model Year: 1988

I bought this tractor used with 11,000 hours on it. It has worked well for me. It always starts and runs well. My only complaint about this tractor is it's high center of gravity and the non-folding roll over bar. It has a 54" bucket and a 60" mower deck.

Pros: Very reliable.
Cons: High center of gravity.

755 John Deere
Great Tractor Except for Overheating
Model Year: 1989

I bought this 755 used and have had overheating issues with is since day one. I live in Virginia and when temperature is 80-85+ I get overheating within 30 minutes. I think this is because of poor design as the previous owner has flushed the radiator, thermostat, etc. I took the sides off, and no problem as long as ambient temperature is below 85 or so.

Pros: Power, size, features.
Cons: Overheating.

755 John Deere
John Deere 755
Model Year: 1992

Have put 500 hours on this tractor which is used primarily to mow roughly five acres of grass with a five feet wide belly mower. It also pulls a box scraper, disk harrow, rotary cutter, and landscape rake without having to take the mower off. This one has been very reliable with few unanticipated repairs. I'll never buy another gear driven tractor if hydrostatics are available. Hydrostatics pull just as well and are much more convenient. Seldom use brakes. Wiring could be heavier and better protected. Holds about 3.5 gallons of diesel - a larger tank would be nice. Engine oil gets black fast after being changed, but doesn't consume much. A better stop for the hydraulic lever would be nice.

Pros: Its fun to drive with the hydrostatics. Reliable.
Cons: Needs a tool box and cup holder. No storage.

Performance of Tractor
Model Year: 1992

My 755 has performed flawlessly over the entire time I have owned the tractor, I would highly recommend this model to anyone with a small farm or property not exceeding 10 acres.

Pros: Reliabiliy.
Cons: Noisey engine.

755 John Deere
Overheating Problems
Model Year: 1989

If there is any one that has a suggestion on how to get this tractor to run cooler I would really appreciate it, I have done the following to the tractor to no avail, had radiator cleaned and rebuilt, new thermostat, flushed block, new radiator cap, installed a temperature gauge. The tractor is used in Arizona and it is any where from 85 degrees to 100 degrees, the temp gauge will go past 260 degrees, the tractor does not shut down but it will boil over if shut off.The antifreeze is a 50-50 mixture and remains green no rust. I blame it on the design of the tractor as in front of the radiator is the hydraulic oil cooler, than in front of that is the diesel fuel tank. I do not know where to go next and I do not want to ruin the tractor. Any suggestions?

Pros: John Deere Parts availability is good, and it is a Yanmar Diesel.
Cons: Overheating issue.
