Also, I'm wanting to add lighting mounted to the underside of the ROPS bar. Anyone have pictures and what type of lights were used. With the lights being behind the operator, was there any concern with glare/seeing??

I have lights mounted on top of the ROPS, but initially tried them on the underside. My ROPS is fixed, so it's a little shorter than the folding version, but when I tried mounting the lights on the underside, the light was obstructed by the top part of my head.....and the lights blinded me when I turned from side to side. I get some glare with them mounted on top, but not nearly as bad. I just need to be more careful when I get in around tree branches with the lights on top. These are Hella 55w flood lights....pretty cheaply priced from any parts store. Dyer, retired

Increasing ALT speed will not make it have more output other than at slower RPM's. Amp output is determined more by internal design, i.e. the gauge size of windings.

True, I guess that is why there is a voltage regulator. Hadn't really thought about that part, but again, I would think that a place that makes eletric engines or alternators could actually beef up the output to keep a battery charged. I know I would like to add several lights to my tractor. On a BX24, the headlights are pretty much worthless when the FEL is on. What a concept.

But for the other people on here looking for how to add lights to their ROPS, might try at looking at lights that mount on to the recessed hitch on pickups. Pilot Navigator Backup Light Kit : JC Whitney: Auto Parts & Accessories Two 55 watt lights could almost be enough.

Before lights with these mounts were available, I would take two pieces of flat stock, bend some ears, drill holes and put bolts through with nuts on the end to hold the lights. Another thought is to take a couple of big hose clamps and basically do the same thing, bend them to fit your rops.

Or mount the lights on the UPPER lip of the FEL. Then you can actually aim them up/down and at any angle. Just run the wiring with a quick connect near the brace of the FEL. I suppose that they might get banged a bit, but it depends on how full you fill your bucket.

Did you upgrade your alternator? And how did you mount them? I saw some mounts at Messick Farm Supply I believe for 25+ dollars for a single mount.

I have the kubota work light for my 2350 also. I have mine facing out front for now. I found it definately helps when the loader is on. I am currently in the process of taking the rear tailights off and replacing them with flush mount LED on the rear and sides. I had a tree break the corners of both lenses and found that you have to buy the whole housing instead of just the lense. I was wondering if anyone has ever added a light to the loader arms?

cmdwolf,

I just completed the alternator upgrade, with an awful lot of help from Shaun (Blackmagicwoman,) so I can run all my lights without worrying about taxing the battery. I turn on all the lights I have when I'm near the road during snow removal. Prior to the alternator upgrade I would run the battery down to the point that it wouldn't start the next morning, so I put the battery on a maintenance charger after each use....now I won't have to worry about doing that. If you decide to do the alternator upgrade, it can be done for about $180.00, which is just about $500.00 cheaper than what the dealer would charge for the kit, installation labor, pickup of the tractor and drop off, etc.

The lights were mounted by drilling down through the ROPS. I also have a flood light that hangs down behind my head that faces to the rear for back blade work. That light is mounted the same way. I installed the lights about 4 years before I discovered TBN and read all the threads regarding drilling ROPS bars, so I would probably go with one of the many other methods of mounting if I had to do it again. Thanks John and others for all the great input! I think this year I am going to add on magnetic mount Peterson Light from Northerntool and plug it into the outlet. I believe it will get me through the winter. Next year when I have more time and money (yeah right) I will embark on upgrading my alternator. This is a great sight.

Again thanks fellas.

Best thing about the magnetic mounted light is when you catch it on a tree limb, it'll slide out of the way instead of getting smashed. I wouldnt consider any other method for fixing a work light.
I have one single magnetic work light on a 15ft curly extension cord and I move that thing all over the place! Its great to have that flexibility.

My B7100 has the standard dynamo charger and an extra 55w lamp is not a big problem.

Gents I have a BX25. Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me
regarding making my electrical system more robust? I "think" it is
a 40Amp Alternator. If I find an alt that produces more do I need
to change maybe the Voltage Regulator and or other parts?

TIA!

All depends what you need to run? Two 55w lamps would require about 8amp total. I never checked but the headlamp would draw about the same if they are also 55w bulbs and a few more amps for the rear lights and gauges. On my BX2350(40a alt) I added 2 overhead lamps with 55w bulbs and haven't had any problens with keep the battery charged. Also the more AMPS the ALT produces requires more HP from the engine. As a guess with all my lights turned on I still have over 20AMPS to charge the battery while running, unless someone can correct this theory. Todays ALT have the voltage regulator built internally.
