No one is saying that being proud of what you own is bad.. the bru-ha-ha happened when someone made the blanket statement that JD was bar-none better than any other machine atainable.. and thet everyone wanted one secretly.. even if they could not afford it... The statement itself is hogwash... doesn't matter what brand was listed.. they all have their good and bad points.. no one brand, so far is better than all the other brands across the board.

Even painted my grubbing hoe and #2 shovel green and yellow. Maybe I can make a JD commercial?????

Ain't gonna paint the wheelbarrow though.

I've never owned a wheelbarrow.
Not gonna get one either cause I'm afraid if I had one I might be dumb enough to use it.

Its all relative. Wheel barrow beats carrying dirt one shovel at a time. I image I have moved a good 100 yards of dirt with a wheelbarrow, probably more, who knows. I even got one of those big ones with dualies on the front. It was orange, but don't think it was a Kobota. I was mighty proud of that big sucker--could load a lot of prickley pear on it.

Now for semantics--my green machine is better than anyone else's machine period. Now why is that. Because it ain't a #$%* wheel barrow and I own it. If you have a green machine and an orange machine and all I have is a wheel barrow, then my wheel barrow is better than your green or orange machine because your machines don't do me a bit of good. :D:D

Every body oughta own a wheelbarrow. It makes one appreciate any mechanized implement no matter the color.

Kubota is just the best equipment you can buy and not everyone can afford the premium to own one. But everybody wants one no matter how much they say they don't.

Kubota's are ok I guess but they are really just a compromise. They're what most consumers "settle for" like all the other tractor brands.

JD is King of the Hill folks. And always will be. People who want a new tractor don't daydream about owning a Kubota/NH/MF/Kyoteeee/Mahindra....etc. They want a new, shiny Green Machine...They want the King! They want the John Deere!

Either pay the premium and join the club or compromise and settle for something less. Or three of something less...right Lbrownster...

The head lemming in charge at the JD marketing dept just got another raise (of one sort or another ;) ) after that post!

After owning more tractors in the last 40 years than most people ever see in a lifetime, many of them Deere, including a three green ones and 3 red ones I own now, I can, without any question, say that statement is just about as bogus as it gets.

Deere makes SOME products that are better than their competition. The competition makes quite a few products that are better than many of Deere's offerings. Anyone who's spent enough time actually USING a tractor and NOT simply daydreaming about them will tell you Deere isn't the "above all/end all" equipment manufacturer. Many of us who've made a living with tractors will tell you without hesitation, there's a BUNCH of brands that have "best in show" in a bunch of different catagories. The concept that one "color" is superior across the board is absolutely insane.

Since the days when gasoline replaced hay as the principal means of propelling farm "horsepower", there's been a constant bashing of "the other guys colors". It won't change. Another thing that's remained constant is the fact that there are always several brands who have products available that are essentially equals from a quality and performance standpoint.

Deere IS the biggest. They may well be "the best" from a shareholders standpoint. They are in fact , the best fit for many individuals who are buying a tractor. That doesn't mean they are across the board the BEST product available in all instances. I've owned quite a few of their "less than equals" to back up that statement.

This whole conversation becomes even more interesting when you figure that SO much of what Deere sells anymore is really someone elses product with green and yellow stickers. As evidenced by people like westy here, Marketing is what this company has done best. Bar none. There are not many products where Deere is objectivly #1, but no one can hold a candle to the way they've sold themselves.

I'm telling you boys, after I painted my grubbing hoe green and yellow, that rascal almost
runs itself. :D After careful consideration, maybe I oughta paint that stinking wheelbarrow too. It uses a lot less diesel.

Yep I agree... Deer IS best at one thing.. brainwashing..er.. marketing.. as
'westy' has demonstrated for us.

People who want a new tractor don't daydream about owning a Kubota/NH/MF/Kyoteeee/Mahindra....etc

To prove westy wrong.. I actualy DO dream about owning a big new shiny NH tractor.. it's at the top of my 'dream' list... If that's not evidence.. ;) then what is!

better watch out.. you might owe some licensing fees to JD if you keep talking like that... they might send some legal types that are good at brainwashing people ( like westy ) to your door, to collect.. ;)
