The golf balls are like putting pipe under the safe so you can roll it. Except you can roll it in all directions as opposed to the pipe.
What kind of golf balls did you use? Titleist Balatas or Topflights?

I just move my 1,000lb safe and use a dolly, a couple crowbars and a couple 2 x 4's to keep it in position while I repositioned myself for better footing. I rolled it up the tailgate of my trailer with her pushing and keeping the pry bars so it wouldn't roll back. I parked the trailer below a curb so the tailgate was about level with the ground. My wife helped and it can be done. Using a couple strong men would've made it a lot easier.

I used four strong guys, five pieces of pipe carpet and 100-150 golfballs to get the safe in my pick-up truck.Drove the safe home, rolled the safe off the truck ,lifted up vertical, then opened the safe door which lifted the opposite corner of the safe off the concrete. I then placed the golf balls under the safe and moved it myself to where I wanted it in the garage. Removed the golf balls and loaded the safe.

I bought the safe at auction from a Police Department that was moving their headquarters. They wanted nothing to do with the safe at their new headquarters. I bid $50.00, no one else bid,(darn).Better than the $2000.00 safe my brother bought from Cabela's that wouldn't fit through his front door(hehe).

I love it! Yankee ingenuity!

I just completed the move of my new gun safe. I've read through this thread and can only come to one conclusion. Bigger safes and justification for bigger tractors :D

Now that's a nice looking safe (what's inside doesn't look to bad either).

Thanks! It even fits the .50 (see left side of door opening). Fort Knox makes one nice unit.

I'm not sure about lifting 800 lbs, but it can easily hold and lower 800 lbs. Here I'm moving a I beam that weighs a lot. I can't remember the exact weight anymore. We pulled the beam almost all the way off the truck, then held it in the air as the truck drove out. It is way beyond the lifting capacity of the BX but not beyond its holding or dropping capacity. Done easily and safely. Besides, if it fell, I don't think we would have but a scratch in the beam, just a dent in the ground!

I found with my old BX23 that it could hold up a lot more than it could actually lift. Several times I pushed large rocks up a small incline and then backed away to hold them off the ground with the fel. For moving safes, i find the most difficult part is removing the safe from the bank or office where it is located. This sometimes involves removing a back wall with my tractor or dynamite, then carefully hauling the safe out, with all work done quietly in the dark.
Good luck!

From the pics of that beam it looks like it weighs more than the tractor. I'm amazed it didn't tip the tractor to the ground when the truck pulled out.
