Ford 1720 4wd shuttle
Picked up my tractor on the way to hunting lease last Thursday and I had it stuck by noon Saturday.I got in to a small area of high ground (surrounded by swamp) where I mowed between a few white oaks to put up a bow stand. On the way out the bush hog was dragging a little and I bogged down. The guy I bought the tractor from had the three point mounted in the lowest position where it wouldn't raise very high off the ground. We didn't want to risk getting the truck stuck too, so here is how we got it out.I moved the linkage to the top hole, then disconnected the top link and used a big ratchet strap around the rops to lift the bush hog a little.Went to town and after seven stops and about 40 miles we found a high lift jack.(Most people we asked didn't know what a high lift jack was).I can tell you it is worth every bit of the 80 bucks I paid for it.Any way to make a long story longer we cut some 4x4 post and used the jack to get them under the front tires then used the jack to winch the tractor out.See pics below.

The tractor is 4wd drive but the tires don't have a lot of traction. The last pic is tractor safely back at camp and cleaned up.I am working on a bumper and grill guard for it.Will post pics later.

Something to keep in mind for the next time, you know there will be one..., cut a couple 4"-5" diameter poles about 16-20" longer than the tire diameter & lash to the outside of each tire. You'll come out of a hole like that in leaps & bounds. MikeD74T

I got stuck like that one time. I detached the bush hog and the tractor came out much easier. Then I got on solid ground and attached a tow chain to the hog and pulled it out of the bog. It was a lot of work but, it worked.

R1's require a different set of wheels. My local New Holland dealer quoted me a price of $1440.00 for the set, tires not included.:(:D

We thought about trying that but it was so far to solid ground I didn't think I would be able to retrieve the bush hog.

I was just kidding....... I doubt that R-1's would have helped you much there anyway. Actually I'm thinking of switching from the R-4's on mine to turfs.

I did something like that once during rainy season with my 1910. R1's didn't help. My farmer neighbors International did the trick.

The guy I bought the tractor from had the three point mounted in the lowest position where it wouldn't raise very high off the ground.

You should call him up and thank him for that. If the cutter was able to raise higher, you would have been that much deeper.

That all ways makes a day of mowing a lot more interesting doesn't it. :)
