John Deere 790
Hi, I have been reading the posts here for about 6 months and have just registered as a user. I have found a lot of good information here and some very interesting projects and equipment threads. Thanks for all the good information. I have a John Deere 790 that I have mounted a Case LX330 FEL on (the loader was cheap and new) and also a 4' Bush hog, back blade, stone rake, 1 bottom plow, and spring tooth harrow. I have 92 acres of hunting land about 2 hours from home that I built a cabin on about 2 years ago and the tractor is at that location. I use the tractor for mowing and planting food plots and am planning to use it this weekend skidding some hemlock logs. The logs will be cut into lumber for building an implement shed
to keep the tractor and implements in. I do have a question about a finish mower. Will a 790 John Deere be able to power a 6' finish mower on mostly level ground or should I plan on getting a 5' mower? Thanks again for all the good information that I have gotten from this site.

damartin - Sorry, I can't answer your question, either, but welcome to TBN! You should have a good answer soon, as there are many experienced people here who are willing to share knowledge.

I think it would do just fine unless you get into real tall stuff.

I know a guy with a 790 and a 6ft tiller. I am used to using my 3400 and a 5 ft tiller so i asked him if he had any problems. He said no but you knew you had a load. So I think a mower would be fine.

Welcome to TBN. When you are asking about a finish mower, I am assuming that you are talking about maintaining a lawn. For that purpose I think that you could possibly run a 6' mower. But if you get into some tougher stuff that is not a lawn, I don't know if the 790 will have the power to run the 6'.:)

Hopefully someone with a 790 will answer to ensure your decision about the
5' or 6' question before the purchase.:)
