Hi folks- I'm new to the TBN boards and have a little problem. I just tried to hook up my new used Eurobeton cement mixer to my JD 870 and can't figure out where to connect the hydraulic line- Do I need to modify and add a connection on the tractor ?? If so where and how- Thanks for any advice

Welcome to TBN, FARMBOY. Go ahead and fill out your profile so we can
know where you are and what you have.

Sounds like your mixer is a 3-pt mixer with a single-acting hydraulic toplink
for dumping, like my Mixer80. There is lots posted on TBN about mixers....go
ahead and try the SEARCH facility.

If that is what you have, the hyd hose needs to be connected to a hyd
aux valve (aka remote valve) on your tractor. Most of those will be for
double-acting cyls, not SA like yours. But they can still be used. I found
the SA cyl on my mixer to work poorly, so I converted to DA. Otherwise,
you have only the weight of the mixer to cause it to dump.

I don't know the mixer you have but assume it most likely has two hydraulic lines with quick connect fittings on the end. Your 870 needs to have 2 remote hydraulic lines, which I will again assume are not currently installed on your tractor. There are several ways of accomplishing this, one being the John Deere SCV kit, which will probably ( my guess) put you back between $500-$750 ( maybe more if dealer installed). Not knowing your exact needs you may also be looking at purchasing some sort of control valve. You could also go with a pto hydraulic pump/reservoir set up, which I am certain would be cheaper than going the JD OEM part route and would also give you some major flow improvement over the stock system. There are yet cheaper ways of doing this though...I will defer them to the JD/hydraulic experts on the board such as Kennyd.
If no one else jumps into the subject soon, post it in the John Deere forum for a quicker response.
Good luck

Do you have a front end loader on that tractor ?

If so, does it have quick disconnects for the hydraulic hoses ?

Thanks for the notes fella's - it's a Eurobeton mixer with a SA cylinder- I found a deere power beyond set up on ebay- after doing more looking around today and the search button helped- I'm assuming its going to work- but then again assuming got me in trouble in 8th grade and I still remember that. Yes have FEL but the fittings on that end didn't look like it would match up, and the hose would not be long enough- also figured I wouldn't be able to use the loader while I was running the mixer and didn't like that idea

The PB kit will get you stared, but it designed for a constant flow of hydraulic oil for implements that have their own valves like a backhoe or a logsplitter, but with it you will be able to add a rear remote valve for your mixer or anything else.

I use the front loader connection on my 1070 to run the SA dump cylinder on my 3pt mixer. Its no big deal to disconnect the curl side of the loader to hook it up. Yes you need a smaller male connector on a hose extension but so what. Go to TSC and buy some parts. You will definitely need to keep the loader on the tractor with some weights in it because a full load of cement and water is VERY heavy and you need the front wheels on the ground occasionally to steer. These hydraulic connections are very useful for a lot of other implements, so I recommend get a pair of extension hoses and connectors.

Thanks for the advice- seems like once you buy something you always need to get more to get it working- so its off to get a rear remote also. Hopefully the PB will get here before this weekend and can get it on- any tricks required to install it?
