I have a chance to do a direct trade for a decent B8200, how are these little tractors compared with lets say BX series of today as far as toughness & reliablility..?
Thanks Joe

I can't speak for the larger B series, except for a little extra stuff like hp, ground clearance, larger sized tires, etc. As for the BX series,
I havent heard any issues with not being tough enough for all the stuff I do with it. So far it continues to impress the heck outa me with the small diesel engine. I don't have needs to do BIG contracting or projects stuff in short time so the BX does everything a B can, just a little longer. Everything you buy regardless of brand name always have thier little quirks. For examaple the BX24 have abrupt issues resolved in BX25's. chevy trucks tows less weight for more money then ford (I'm a chevy person:mad:).

Do I need to go on? I think a better question for you is what is your intention for a tractor purchase ?

1*That issue was a creation of the BX24 it was not present in the BX23s.

Agree completely with radioman...It's all about intended use. For general purpose use the BX does great and it'll take more abuse than I can give it without killing myself...I'm a Chevy guy too:D

Intended use will be 5' box scrapeing, ^& variouse land scape chores, 5.8 acre property. I have a JD 3032E & want 2 working tractors around here. If the B8200 is a known tough unit & reliable, I might just get it. I would be tradeing a Zero-Turn mower for it. The lawn here is not worthy yet of a nice zero-turn, major mole damage, & basicall needes to be completely gone over. Losta tres around so small & nimble is a big plus. Will a B8200 handle a 5' box scraper ..?Basically if the B8200's are lknown tuff like a JD 790 etc, then I think I might give it a go.
Thanks Joe

A BX is going to be more nimble than a B8200, but will cost you more money. The B8200 is more comparable in size, power, and weight to following newer models:
B2100, B7500, B7510.

If I recall properly, the B8200 doesn't have power steering (as the other models that I listed do). Since you already have the JD3032E, I'd recommend the BX. It'll be a better mower for you, but yet still capable of doing other tractor work too.

The general consensus around here is that while the B-series, and BX-series overlap quite a bit in their capability, if finish mowing is going to be the primary use, go with the BX, if finish mowing is a secondary use (or not a use at all), go with the B.
