I don't have any pics of the rack empty, but basically if you look you can see the shape of the hoops. There are 4 crossmembers tying them together (some had 3) and the width is 14" I believe. This will vary based on your wood length. For me a 16" log is just a bit close to the rack width.

The fork pockets are formed 10ga channel. I used 6x2 rect tube on the first ones, but it's just too close a fit and hard to get in and out especially when setting down on the casters.

The one here has 3 cross members. I went to 4 on the latest ones with the cross members out in the center of the bend. This way I can use my floor jack to lift on and off the casters if necessary. The upper cross members are there for support PLUS as a strap attach point so I can ratchet the wood down.

Skid steer quick attach and skid steer forks. No they are not light, but they are tough and have a nice headache rack.

Notice the bucket in one pic and the forks in another. I'd hate to fumble with pins out in the snow/woods.

Ya sometimes I wish I would have gone with the skid steer quick attach set up... so many options available with those.

And here I thought that the Deere forks were as good or better (lighter, but well built) compared to the SkidSteer forks.
The quick attach (Bobcat style) weighs more than the Deere FEL hook-up, and the only attachments that make sense to me are the forks and the bucket. The rest seem to require hyd. hose hookups for power.
What other attachments (besides bucket and forks) will/can be used with the quick attach?

Here's some pics of my rig. The snow came in and drove me out but I did manage to get one rack (1/2 cord) filled with yellow birch and also pulled down a leaner that I had created. The idea behind my concept is to handle the wood once. Cut split and stack. Strap down to keep secure and take it on home. Once home I have caster boats that pin onto the fork pockets. I wheel; into the basement and carry up top the fireplace as needed.

In 07 the wife and I cycled out west using the Northern route this time. Through Wisconsin, I didn't remember seeing any woods. Just acres and acres of flat farm land. (just kidding) Actually, the route we took through Wisconsin ( 80 I think or whatever 80 hooks up to out of Chicago and on to the Dakotas) didn't show much wood land. Not meaning to be contentious, but the rack you show is carrying about a sixth of a cord unless you are refering to a face cord?
Love seeing tractors getting firewood. Thanks for the pics

This is exactly what I was looking for for my cabin

What size pipe / tube did you use?

How did you bend it.

When you get one empty can you take a picture?

Thanks
Tom

Great idea and good looking set-up..! Did you use automotive exhaust pipe? I am guessing the size is about 4'w x 5'h?

I doubt you took much of a Wisconsing tour. I80 is a bit south of us. Most of our woods are to the north.

My wood is 20"-24" so if a guy wanted to get technical it's more like 1/5-1/4 pulp cord. I just call them 1/2 face which they are acytually just a bit strong on that.

I have several incomplete and empty units. I'll try to get a pic.

I had them built by Freudenthal Dairy & Manufacturing, Medford WI out of heavy wall pipe. First proto was 2" exhaust pipe, but this is a bit weak for going in the woods.

60" wide x 48" tall were my first batch

4'" wide x 54" tall is my latest ones which I prefer

Pic of the rack empty.

Also a pr of racks loaded in the bed of my truck. I had my bucket along due to snow etc so I had to carry the forks in the truck bed. If I didn't have to carry the bucket I'd carry another pair on the tractor/trailer with the forks speared thru. 2 racks tied together is quite stable. I pit a plank through the fork slots as a safety precaution as well.
