Looking for something larger than 6' finish mower

Depending on where you're at, and what you have to pull it with, but I've got a Ford 917 Flail mower I'd part with. Just need to be near enough to Iowa to justify the trip

The Woods RM990 cuts 7-1/2 feet wide - liked my first one so much I bought it a bigger tractor. It's happy with at least 35 pto hp. A little spendy, but the quality is there.

At the moment I have a 6' Mott flail, 6' bushhog, 62" MMM under a 4110 JD, a D-15 Allis, IH cub with a 6' MMM, IH Cub with 5' sickle mower, and a TC 55 DA NH. Im hoping to find something in the 8' range. I love the huge lawn, looks more like a golf course with a view of a valley and pond. Have two more fields i cut with the bushhog that could be cut with a finish mower, another 5 plus acres. I have planted alot of trees, mostly spruce, maple, and oak. I don't mind trimming around them.

6+ acres of lawn. Takes too long and need something to cut the time down a little. Anyone recommend a larger brand that isn't in the six figure catagory. Would prefer to stick to a PTO / three point version.

Whatever you settle on, be sure that the PTO Hp matches the mower required Hp. You do not want a larger mower than the PTO can drive, much too hard on the engine [overheat] and may break something in the transmission [$]
The rule of thumb for rough cut mowers [Brush hog] is 5 Hp for each foot of width. A 5 ft hog needs 25 PTO hp, making the engine 30+ hp. Not sure if the same holds true for finish mowers.

I have a Befco 84"...works fine ...they make a 110" mower, also

I have 45 hp on one and 55 on the other. Don't believe I would have a hp problem when the grass gets 4" high even with a 15' mower. Finish mowers pull alot easier as there is not much bulk to grind up.

How long does it take you to mow your 6+ acres with your current setup?
One of the nicest mowers I've seen is a Lastec articulating deck mowers. They really flow with the ground contours and provide a golf course finish. The make 3PH deck models.

Rhino makes a 84" and 100" rear finish mower. I have the 84" rear discharge. Mows great. I bought mine new 3 years ago for $1800 but they are much more $$ now.
I also have a 90" mower for the front of my Toolcat. It is easier to mow with because don't have to look backwards and easier to maneuver.

It doesn't take much more hp for a 84" or 90" finish mower compared to a 72".

You next choice in a large mower is a flex finish mower which will have 3 decks and very $$$.
