I have a stump bucket and it has paid for itself, also. It's the best bush transplanting tool since the backhoe. Good for making footers and such for buildings, too.

Yes they are very handy! Especially if you have a quick attach on your tractor. The buckets are also great for picking large rocks.

Excellent design and workmanship.
Something I could use.

Great job on your build! Since I don't have the tools to do it myself, I connected with a local fabricator who did mine for $385. I have used it to transfer / plant well over 75 trees this past fall. They work great and I am sure you will get many years of service from this tool. Sure beats hand digging!!

Can I ask a dumb question?
Is your loader set up with a skid steer QA setup or is the tree spade fit to a frame that uses the QA of the tractor? I know some tractors now come setup to accept skid steer implements but not much more. I have a JD 5520 (75 HP) that I would mount it on.
I think I can buy an adaptor that QA hooks to the Deere loader frame and then adapts to skid steer things? Any help on this?

No it's 5/16" plate that's been run through a rolling mill.

How's it worked out as far as digging?
Soil type you're dealing with - clay or mixed soil?
Do you go in one side, then around to the opposite side?
This looks IDEAL for my needs, mounted up front...gotta get one...:D

Yes my tractor has a quick attach (QA) bracket on it. This was an option for my loader from the factory (Kubota). It is wonderful and allows the tractor to attach any standard skid steer attachment. I have a set of forks from MDS, my loader bucket and now my tree scoop. I can change attachments in around 30 seconds including getting off the tractor and moving it around! Very very handy!

Yes I'm sure Deere has a quick attach bracket for their loaders. Anyone should have one that has to change out attachments frequently. :)

I have very good soil with no rocks. So it digs quite well. I've not had a chance to use it much yet due to weather, etc.

Digging a hole can be done from one side if you are not worried about accuracy. When removing a tree you would certainly want to dig from a min of 2 sides.

I've been looking for something like this, and have just about settled on this model. The videos on the WEB site show it on a skid steer, and it looked pretty impressive.

I have a JD 2130 2WD with a Woods 1020 FEL with a Bobcat type quick attachment. The tractor weighs about 6000 pounds. I would be using it mainly to dig holes for planting B&B trees that will need a hole about 4 feet diameter by 2 feet deep. My soil is mixed sand and clay with some small rocks.

For the first batch I rented a Bobcat 331; it worked great and sure was fun. But I think would rather have my own equipment. if this would do the job.

I also wonder if it would be stout enough to try to get up some sweet gum stumps.

Too bad I don't have the skills to build it myself, like some of you have done.

Thanks
Charles
