I have purchased 33 acres of mesquite and dry dirt that I am planning to homestead. Small scale farming if you will. I'll have a garden and some animals and probably plant a little hay. I do not plan on baling it as there are several local guys who have large balers.

I am using my dad's bulldozer to clear the land. Once it is cleared I'll just need a tractor to maintain it and do general jobs around the house.

I like the 3038e and a local dealer has quoted me $16,800 for a new one with the 305 fel. They have a 2004 4410 on the lot with a newly installed 300x fel that they are asking $16,350 for. I have not looked closely at the 4410 but I am considering it. The tires are at least 75% so I would guess that the hours are low.

A new 3038e would come with a warranty, but I'm thinking that the 4410 would be a better tractor over the long haul. Any thoughts?

Looks like the 4410 is in a different class to me. stronger 3pt, more hydraulic flow, etc.. here you go for comparasion

The choice is yours, however, that is a great price for a new 3038e.

I'd lean toward the 4410 too, but I think the dealer is a couple thousand too high.

I'll stop by the dealer and take a closer look at the 4410. It is definitely a better tractor on paper. My main concern is it being 7 (almost 8) years old with an unknown history. The 3038 is new and under warranty.

I'm sure there is some negotiating room on the 4410. $16350 is their advertised price.

4410, no brainer. You can at least take the loader off.

I owned a 4010 five years ago that had the removable loader. I did remove the bucket a few times when I ran the mower, but never removed the loader arms. A removable fel is not a consideration for me. I know there are those that swear by it, but I've never had a need to remove the whole fel.

I do like the heavier construction of the 4410. I'm going to take a closer look at it asap.
