DK40SE Squeal When Moving in Reverse.

I've put 124 hrs on my 2011 DK35 HST since receiving it at the end of March. My experience is similar to grsthegreat. It will sometimes squeal in reverse when it has been used for an hour or so in hot weather. Even then the squeal is sporadic.

My previous tractor was a geared model. The HST is much easier to operate and useful for my needs. As gkh7890 says, it is better for precision work. It is much less scarey working close to buildings, on hills, etc. I now mow the lawn with the tractor and 6' finishing mower instead of the old riding mower.

I think an HST is safer for most of us casual users with small acreages. I would not want to go back to a geared tractor, squeal or no squeal.

Squeal or not, going to shuttle shift to avoid the 'possibility' of the squeal is IMHO ridiculous. Get what you want or need as far as a transmission choice, but don't base your decision on this thread's discussion exclusively. Those of us who have the squeal issue in our HST's are few and far between in the overall number of tractors out there that are in use and our sole objective is to solve the problem by comparing notes, ideas and possible solutions in addition to keeping Kioti owner's aware of a potential problem in some Kioti tractors with HST.

I will not have my flexible hose till next weekend to try, but after reading back through the thread I am wondering why a faulty hydraulic pump could not be the culprit. The reason I bring this up is my dad (a long time tractor mechanic) and I were able to reproduce the noise while it was moving very slowly in reverse allowing us to walk around the tractor to pin point the noise. The point being that the source of the noise is directly behind the right side loader bracket, right where the end of the hydraulic pump is located.

Has anyone else been able to locate the source of noise on their tractor and if so is this what you are finding? Has anyone taken pressure readings right out of the hydraulic pump to see if it is low after the tractor is warmed up? Not sure, but just seems like I should be concentrating my efforts at the source of the noise.

I am new to posting, but have been a thread stalker for a long time. I bought a new Kioti DK40se hst (no cab) about three weeks ago (ordered not off the lot) even after seeing this thread, hoping that Kioti would have the squeal problem fixed in production by now. I regret to tell you that they don't and mine squeals as bad as the others have described. My question is how many with this problem have tried the fix tnewbern came up with and have been successful in eliminating the noise. I am going to order the parts to make this swap and hopefully eliminate the squeal.

I know I am complaining, but don稚 get the wrong impression, I like everything about this tractor and everything else seem to work good and be well built. I have had and still have a few tractors and the Kioti is the easiest to drive and operate out of all of them.

Sorry to heard Kioti still selling tractors with the issue.

The flexible hose fix will reduce or eliminate the noise but I primary concern now is the low pressure at the test ports as noted in previous posting. I cant help but wonder what this is doing to the HST.

I will not have my flexible hose till next weekend to try, but after reading back through the thread I am wondering why a faulty hydraulic pump could not be the culprit.

Note: my hydraulic pump was replaced last year around August, it did not fix the issue. This was the first thing the dealer and Kioti attempted because there was a known issue with low pressure from some pumps. It would not hurt to check the pressure at the pump.

I'm wonder if replacing both the hard line going into the HST filter and the short hard line from the HST filter to the HST pre-charge port would boost the pressure enough to get the correct pressure at the charge relief test ports? While I would like to test this I'm not too hopefully based on my past pressure reading. Increasing the engine RPM will increase the pressure at the pre-charge port somewhat linear but the charge relief test port pressure reading are non-linear and seem to top out at 200 psi. If I remember correctly pressure should be around 255 psi. Unfortunately due to my schedule it will be at 3 weeks before I can test this.

Kattywumpus, this is good information. I was not aware of any hydraulic pump issues. Did it seem like the source of your squeal was also coming from the pump?

I should probably check the pressures just in case it would happen to be the pump even though it seems to be the same as everyone else痴 squeal. Do you know what the out put pressures of the pump are and where to check them?

I also thought about replacing the other line if replacing the short steel line does not fix the problem. I would guess there are similar restrictions in that line and by replacing it should help boost your pressures.

Another victim. DK45 HST. I have 5 hours on my tractor and I hear the whine...its not a squeal per say on my tractor but more a whine just like Robifield's video. It happens every time you go to reverse once the tractor is up to running temps. Any offical word from Kioti yet? I hope they get this fixed. I saw this post before buying and decided to try it anyway. I let the 4K offer expire while I debated. Even told my dealer about my concerns and sent him this thread and he sid he'd sold 15 of these tractors with no problems. Guess I'll have the honor of being first with the problem.

No word yet from my selling dealer, but as you posted I just was writing myself a note to contact Bob at MIE about what if anything he has heard from Kioti. I spoke wih him at length a few months ago and have been away since then.
My dealer says he is hearing nothing new and talks about how many zone reps Kioti has and how they are switching around their territories, etc.
I asked him this past week if I should write a letter direct to Kioti about this - (while expressing my concern about him not getting caught in the middle with them). He said he'd hear from them no matter what if I write or call Kioti directly. I told him I cannot let this fade into off warranty time by inattention or intent on Kioti's part.
Yes this problem needs to be addressed- not ignored into oblivion by Kioti. They built it, they sell it, they make the profit, they need to step up and resolve this issue.
Kioti says they do not pay attention to web sites like TBN, but has anyone noticed the add banners for Kioti on both the Kioti owning/operating and buying forums here at TBN ? Evidently they pay attention to advertising here, and now they're pushing the Mechron at all of us; including special pricing offers to existing Kioti owners. I can say with out a doubt I will NOT be buying another Kioti ANYTHING until this situation is resolved. I'd rather see them investing in fixing this problem than in selling us or anyone more of their products.

Has anyone heard anything as to progress on this issue from their dealer or Kioti reps?

Well, I finally go the chance to try my tractor (DK40 HST) with the flexible hose (exact same setup that tnewbern speced out a while back on this thread) installed and I hear no squeal. I do have to caution that this is only after two hours of use, but my squeal would start within the first 5-10 minutes before. I am very happy about the result, but I hope that this is the fix and not just a bandaid for another problem.

RJJR I know how you feel. I went through the exact same scenario and my tractor started squealing at 3 hours and now has 22 hours. It seems suspicious that all of us are the first ones to have the squeal even though there are so many of us.

I want to thank all of you on this thread that have suffered with this problem for many hours and have done countless hours of testing to diagnose this issue. Kattywumpus, tnewbern, coyote machine to name a few for staying with this and keeping us all informed so we would not have to suffer as long as they have. Hopefully Kioti will step up with there findings on this issue too. Thanks Guys!

I've been having a similar problem with my Ford New Holland 1520 hydrostatic motor squealing, but I also have a loss of pressure after the charge pump when driving in either forwards or reverse.

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/hydraulics/173127-tractor-squeals-under-load-after-8.html#post2522394

Does the squeal you guys are talking about with your Kioti tractors actually cause low pressure, or is it just a noise with no loss of power? It sounds like some of you are losing pressure, but the dealer is saying it's just a harmonic oscillation that won't cause any power issues?

Thanks,

Luke
