Seems like these days everybody wants to respond to any little thing with anger.

Maybe we should all just breathe a little bit and take it easy. It's not the end of the world. You didn't get cancer, your kids didn't get kidnapped, your house didn't burn down, see what I mean?

Don't sweat the small stuff. It's a tractor, for crying out loud:)

I don't believe the OP is depending on this machine for his livelihood or any significant inconvenience is being encountered.

In 50+ years of operating tractors and yes some for my livelihood, I have had to wait on parts and repairs and the amount of time described here does not even come close to the amount of down time I have had nor that which farmers in my area experience.

It seems to me, that some of this is being blown way out of proportion; stuff happens.

Yes, it is not the end of the world...it's just extremely inconvenient...

I already deleted one post on this, but here I go again, I think in this case I have to agree with Johnbro. I don't believe the OP is depending on this machine for his livelihood or any significant inconvenience is being encountered.

Fire away, I can take it.
You asked for it, your gonna get it, and it ain't a toyota.

I think your right.

I had to replace the pinion seal on the front axle of my Dodge Dakota 2 weeks ago. NAPA had 1 seal in the entire country that might work, and it was in Omaha, Nebraska. Called the dealer, took him 4 days to get one.

Several years ago, it took a week to get a water pump for the Chevy Cavalier that I had.

Maybe Kubota did have one alternator in the country, but it was sold the day before the op's failed???? Sounds like they don't go bad too often.

Not firing away but just because they treat customers this way doesn't make it right. I too have had my share of parts delays for close to 50 yrs most of them in the last 10 to 15 yrs. Interestingly, with the MF 265 my parts guy will hunt everywhere for a part (all over the net) and then will have it drop shipped to me. Goes to show what can be done if one wants to.

Farmers on this side of the state wouldn't stand for this treatment - they expect service guys to be available 24/7 and usually get it. Money talks.

I think part of the trouble is corporations now feel huge pressures from investors who want big short term gains. Having almost no inventory (as well as understaffing) is a way to help the balance sheet.

kinda late to this party, but I'll chime in.

the Dynamo on my B2400 siezed first of August, belt just slipping over the pulley, no idea how long it had been doing it, only noticed it when I opend the hood to blow out the radiator and screen ( burning rubber smell gets your attention kinda quick..... )

I'd been planning to swap in an alternator, just waiting for the time, well, now was the time, I had a 40amp Nippon Denso alternator from a Toyota forklift, ( I repair forklifts ) mild massaging of the upper mount, some playing around with spacers and a longer belt, the alternator bolted right in, but I didn't have time to wire it in..... and it had a 3 wire plug VS the 2 wire that the Kubotas use.

Last week I finally wired it all up, but I had been using it since August total loss, never put it on charger, mowed several times, used the loader a few times, the alternator was pretty much a belt tensoner at that point, just to keep the water pump and fan turning.

not once was it on the charger, though it did start turning over a bit slow the last time before I finally wired in the alt.

now that it is charging, it starts faster and better than it ever did on the dynamo, it's actually getting 13.7v to the battery while running, instead of 12.5v.

I will tell you, you're way more patient than I

Warranty or not, it would have been repaired and back in my hands, and in operation. that alt can be rebuilt at any motor repair shop for about $150ish, less if you know what parts you need and can do it yourself.

I have little patience for "lack of parts", it even makes me mad when my own employer does it, I will do anything I can to make the machine useable until the part comes in, though, sometimes it's not possible/feasable. most times if the machine is down, it's not more than 24hrs. an alternator shouldn't leave a machine down longer than that, reguardless if you use it as a toy or as a work tool.

I have pulled parts off of NEW forklifts to get something going, and ordered that part back. Alternators, hyd cylinders, bearing hubs, LP regulators, seats, I have no problems doing that, though some sales guys at my dealership get a little queasy when I/we do it.

Our parts dept stocks only parts that have sold in the last 6mos, everything else is stocked either at our main corperate warehouse or ordered factory direct ( or aftermarket if available and the customer is willing ) most itmes next day. heavy items (over 10lbs) are not next day ship, too expensive. it is pretty frustraiting.

Yes, it is not the end of the world...it's just extremely inconvenient...

I can sure understand that.

Not trying to knock anyone, just trying to add a little perspective for some.

I expect absolute perfection from Kubota and their supply chain...nuclear tsunami or not :p

Way too much talk about this problem! 11 pages! Why not just buy an aftermarket altenator w/internal regulator off of Ebay or many others. Price is $75 to $105. Find something close and use shims (washers) to align belt. May have to modify stay (they cost$7-8) and do minor rewire leaving the original harness alone for the future. If tracor is not that necessary, just wait. Better yet..... take original to a alt/starter shop and have it fixed. I know most of this has been discused, but thought I would add my :2cents:
