I'm sure they could order it if I wanted an entire roll. -shrug-

You shouldn't need to pay for the full roll. Our supply house sells it by the foot as well as by the roll. Its not something everyone needs very often so a good supply house has it available.

Sorry to say it may be your best bet to get that and cut the ends off unless a local supply house has it. .

This is an extension cord for a welder. It has the proper ends on it. At least the ends my welders have.

I'm using a piece of 8/2 romex that I had. I figure if I'm careful with it it'll do until I install it permanent. I roll it up in big loops.

I want to make an extension cord for my welder but haven't been able to source the 8/3 wire anywhere. The ready made cords you buy have the standard welding plugs on them and I'm set up for NEMA 10-50 plugs. I just need the wire.

Any suggestions? The Lowes big wire rack didn't have any and the electrical supply houses around here don't handle anything like that bigger than 10ga.

thanks,
Ian

The electrical supply house may not handle it [as keep it on hand] but they may be able to order you what you want from the place where they get their electrical supplies. I had the local electrical supply house to order mine and to get the ends that I needed. If you can get an extension cord especially made for your machine it might be more cost effective since it will already have the correct ends on it.

How much do you need? I have a bunch of 8/4 SO cord. I could send ya some if you can't find any. Working for a generator rental company has its perks sometimes...lol

We just made up an extension cord for a Lincoln 180 mig and I think that is what my brother used. Lowes only had 29' left and we took it all.

Hey Freak, how's it going. Would you be the same Freakingstang that I used to see at ArboristSite? With a name like that, you must be.

I got my 4 gauge cable at an electrical cable supplier. I just went to air liquide, and asked where I could get it. Love mistakes by the new guy, got 30 feet of 4 gauge, for the price of 25 feet of 8 gauge:D:thumbsup:

As it turns out, I found some today. $2.08/ft at a local supply house. I swear the last time I looked at those places, they didn't have any.
