I know this thread might not go anywhere... and it seems we've beat this horse before.

Hypothetically, *IF* you have a jerky hitch, how much would you be willing to pay to have your jerky hitch "fixed" (adjusted or replaced) on your L2800/L3200/L3400/L3700/L3800? Just wondering... is $500 too much?

Also, if you don't think it's bad enough to fix, it would be very good to know that!!!

Disclaimer, I don't know how much it would cost or if it could be done. Just wondering what it would have been worth to you to have a smooth 3ph. Just looking for a "show of hands" kind of thread and not debate anything...

For me? Yes, I would have paid $500 since I would have lost more trading it in for something I could live with.

Considering there is a fix(and it is), and if the tractor is under warranty then the owner shouldn't even think about dishing out money. Seems like if the dealer isnt willing "step up to the plate" and fix, then I'd find another dealer that will. And don't forget about letting kubota know this too.Maybe I'm the "lucky one" that got it fixed, but my mind was made up to leave the tractor if it wasn't fixed....Or maybe it's like some said and I ended up with a dealer that helped.. Either way the Kubota Corp was notified and BECAUSE of that my tractor was fixed... Either way I hope everybody has the problem eliminated, because the 3200/3800 is a great tractor only with the exception of the hitch flaw.

I am thinking I would pay about $350, It is an annoyance, but since I don't boom pole or boxblade (two uses where it would be a real problem) I can live with as is, but I wish it was fixed under warranty.. I tried with my dealer, but they were not interested in going to bat for me. I don't have the experience to tie into it my self. I would have to have step by step instructions with pictures. As others have said, This is a great tractor in all other respects. A real value and a pleasure to operate.

My hitch isn't anywhere near as bad as I've seen posted. That being said, it's not real smooth either, especially when it has a sizeable load on it. This makes it difficult to "feather" and causes some frustration for me when grading with the rear blade or adjusting the brush hog height. I've just been living with it and accepted that that's the way it is. Part of this is due to my lack of experience - until last Summer, this is the first and only tractor I had used, so I don't even know for certain if it's abnormally jerky.

The engineer in me wants to know why, tear it apart, and fix it. The accountant in me, who has seen the spending projects that the engineer creates when he "fixes" things, has voted this idea down every time it comes up. If the dealer were closer, I would have gone that route, but he's over an hour away and I have neither truck nor trailer capable of moving my tractor; I'm out of warranty, so I know I'd be looking at a big bill.

I'm just assuming your talking about the Grand L 3240 you have listed in your sig. If that's the case, then you shouldn't have the problem or shouldn't be "as bad" for that matter compared to the std L's. The tractors with the greatest jerk are the newer 3200/3800 Std L's and some older L Series tractors.

Mine's bad enough I'd like to fix it, but not bad enough to shell out any cash. If I can do it myself, and I may try it yet, that would be the best solution.

My dealer's offered me access to the shop manuals I'd need to dig into it.

Like I said in another thread, my L3800 doesn't seem to have the problem.

Maybe I got lucky?

As to the question. I wouldn't pay, I'd fix it myself...

OK, I just checked mine. If I raise the 3ph Very Slowly, it is jerky, or jumpy. If I raise it a little faster, it's fairly smooth. I would not call it a problem and have not noticed it running a bush hog. Might be a problem using a box blade or a post hole digger. I might look into it at some point, if it's an easy fix, or adjustment. But it doesn't bother me right now.

That's pretty much the same as mine, I find it a problem when trying to grade an area and making small corrections to the blade height.

Another concern is if you have someone trying to help you hook an implement. I've had to remind my wife a couple of times to keep her fingers well clear of the implement and hitch arms while I adjust the height of the arms to get pins in. She hasn't operated the lever while I hook something, at least not yet.

I try to do all my own hookups, but occasionally some help is really handy. They just need to be aware that their hands can't be around the lift arms while an adjustment is being made, as long as everyone understands that things are OK.
