RAM 5500 Pickup

This story of a "long hauler" pickup truck based on a RAM 5500 cab-chassis came out back in December 2011 and now Pickup Trucks is testing one according to their Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/#!/pickuptrucksdotcom

GCWR - 37.5k (blowing by Ford's 33k rating)
Dry weight - 9300 lbs
Tow capacity could be upwards of 27k lbs!
Three fuel tanks totaling 170 gallons.
No word on tranny but it's got to retain the Aisin 6 speed and 800 ft.-lb version of the Cummins.

Well I would love to own one. And to say the least I would be able to max out the trailer towing rating but with new f350drw running north of $55k I think a new this would be way out of my price range.

I would have no problem owning a Cummins powered Ram with an Aisin transmission AND DEF injection (SCR emission control). I think all the 4500/5500 trucks utilize the DEF system instead of the souped up EGR, so I think it's got potential. I would love it that much more if they would make a SRW variant.

Think maybe if you bought a dually bed and fleet side bed and took it to body shop,they could make you one x-long bed? Seems like it would work....
