kubota genuine filters or not???

ok. i didn't read everyword of it, but the just i got was that this mmwa allows consumers/owners to use aftermarket parts and that won't void the written warrenty. so this allows competition of manufactoring companies so the prices on parts and such (as we are speaking of) don't get out of hand or too high. in other words i think that it means if other parts/filters are so writtenly implied state they will work in place of oem parts/filters, they should be fine to use? and if the equipment was still under warrenty, the dealer would still have to honor the warrenty even if non oem filters were used, so long as a correct after market filter was used.

Very good. That applies to everything aftermarket so long as it meets or exceeds the OEM spec. Even perfotmance upgrades like chip sets come under the act. cars, bikes, whatever. Boats and airplanes have to have the appropriate certification stamped on the part but it (act) apples as well.

The Proof that the part failed is put on the user...Just like the Faulty or Missing o-ring that is supposed to be on the bottom of the filter? Anybody else ever opened the box to find the wrong filter inside?

Be careful of the cross for the Kubota inline fuel filter, the WIX cross version is only a screen in the pictures, may get an actual one in hand to see if it is just the screen or the water blocking paper element. Air and oil filters are common but the transmission does not cross many times.

I'm sure all of the aftermarket filters will be fine, the main thing is changing them regularly.

Having said that, I just get mine at the Kubota dealer. I know they are the right size and type, and I like visiting the dealership on a semi-regular basis (they have cool stuff there).

Sorry for the thread-jack (well, not really), but this reminds me. When I bought my B2400 I got a stamped sheetmetal oil filter wrench in the plastic bag with the owners manual, etc. Does Kubota still give these with new tractors? When I sold the tractor I kept the filter wrench...... .just used it doing my spring service on my B3030.

I don't remember getting one recently and I have bought some Kubotas.

ok, learned a lot so far. i did some more homework and i found out that the napa (wix) filters are no cheaper then the kubota filters in price in my area. i price checked the air, oil, hyd, and fuel filters for b7800 and rtv 900 and some of napa's was cheaper (not by much) and some of the kubota's was cheaper (not by much). the napa (wix) did not have all the filters either (inner air filters). so with this info i am going to stick with the kubota filters from my dealer. this actually surprised me when i did the actual price checks. i thought for sure the after market napa filters would be less expensive. not so. any way, thanks you all for responding to my redundant question. i do believe that the napa filters would work fine from what i read here, but since i can support my dealer and get the stuff made just for the equipment for the same amount of money, i am going to do that. just wondering if anyone else price checked other filters directly with kubota filters and what was your price difference? i am in the north east region. maybe it is all about the same throughout the u.s.

I have and found for me I prefer to support my dealer who has been VERY good to me in lieu of saving a nickel. They actually are equal or less than Messicks on some things. The dime of loyalty far outweighs the nickel of savings for me.

Little wake up call... Dealers really don't make squat on oil and air filters. They make it on after the sale service and accessories like implements.

Neither of my Kubota's have ever seen an OEM filter since the originals were changed and no UDT or SUDT either. I use Chevron Symthetic in both.

Go suppoort your dealer by buying new, ever 2 and letting them sell your trade in. They make money on that......:)

Haven't worked for Kubota so can't say for sure for them. Worked for a construction equipment manufacturer, name starting with Cat, and our engine and chem products engineers worked with our primary filter supplier to develop a proprietary media for our fuel filters that meant the difference in poor fuel areas between 35 hours and 2000+ hours injector life. During customer testing prior to production I supplied the filters and had injectors tested for wear every 200 hours. One machine in the Atlanta area was sold to a customer at the end of testing and I got a call a week later that the engine wouldn't start, the injectors were worn out. Very perplexing because I just had them checked. Had them send me pix and sure enough it had a NAPA fuel filter in the most important position. I asked where that came from and was told the customer wanted the machine serviced before taking possession and they didn't have any more of my filter stock (not yet released for production) so they installed a will fit NAPA. I agreed to do a one time buy for replacing injectors on that machine but told the dealer they were now warned.

Oil cleanliness isn't as important as fuel because hydraulic and engine oil isn't injected at 25,000 psi and the oil film thickness in engine bearings is usually thicker than the particles in the oil unless you really screw up the viscosity. In fact the 61 Chev my wife owned when we got married didn't even have a filter - they were optional back then. Still on a hydro tractor I wouldn't want oil dirtier than ISO 17/15/11.
