- Kubota Tractor Loader L3560 HST+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3,700 pounds bare tractor, 5,400 pounds operating weight, 37 horsepower
What mower? Mid mount, flail, bush hog or finish?
A 40-hp tractor is going to weigh 3,000+ pounds. You can accomplish serious work with a tractor this size.
It is LARGE for a first tractor. You will need your dealer so choose carefully. I have Kubota and Deere in my town. Went with Kubota because they are six miles away, Deere eleven miles away. A good decision.
I do not think mid-mount mowers are made for 40-hp tractors. Mid-mount mowers are primarily for sub-compacts.
Keep your current mower for finish mowing around your house.
Get either a rotary cutter (Bush Hog) or flail mower for farther out. Either is good. You can use the T-B-N search feature to research "flail". One "flail" post has over 1,300 replies. Flail mowers are mostly imported.
New threads on rotary cutters appear on T-B-N every day. Bush Hogs were invented in Georgia/USA. I expect rotary cutters outsell flails by 10:1 at least; maybe for no functional reason.
I pull a 48" King Kutter Standard Duty Rotary Cutter.
