Inconsiderate Idiots at the gas station

I can understand if the place is packed and those were the only two pumps, but give me a break. People who have never owned a diesel, probably never give it a second though.
I've experienced that at E85 pumps before. My car is setup for only E85, of which there are only 2 pumps out of 12, 1 of which is broke, and the remaining one will always have someone using it since it's closest to the store. So I'll wait behind their car, get weird looks, have them point to the other empty pumps, and I'll just wave back. No reason to get upset, it is what it is.

So on the flip side, I try to avoid the E85 and diesel pumps myself with the gasser. But sometimes the gas station is a zoo, so I take the diesel/gas pump, it takes a while to pump 20 gallons, meanwhile everyone clears out, and I look like the jerk! :confused2:

I had one time that I pulled into a station that had about 20 gas pumps, and only 2 had diesel. A Honda Accord was pumping at one of those pumps, and a Toyota Camry at the other. (For some reason, around here it is usually foreign car drivers.) NO other vehicles around. Another Powerstroke was sitting behind the Toyota, so I pulled in behind the Honda. The lady with the Honda came up and spoke to me, and said, "All of those other pumps are open, why don't you and the other truck go there?" I replied, "Because none of those pumps have diesel. You and the Toyota blocked the only 2 diesel pumps." She thought a minute, then was nice enough to say, "I never knew that, next time, I'll try not to take up a diesel pump." I had to thank her, and I hope she learned something. At least she didn't go in and go shopping!

Next time you are there with the trailer on tow, just pull up sideways and block the entrance and exit. That should piss off all the Prius owners for atleast 15 minutes while you pump 50 gallons into the truck,10 into the tractor and a few 5 gallon cans just in case.

We have credit card unattended stations for diesel here, its where the real trucks fuel up.

LD I know what ya mean. Usually I'm stuck as my car has fuel filler on the passenger side. When the pumps are full it always seems I have to BACK THRU the line of cars as some idiot will cut in while I'm waiting to pull in from the other side...

When I'm getting gas and diesel for the farm I pulled thru to the one pump with the small pump nozzle (fits into the gas can) and I'm waiting for a farm truck to exit that pump. (No pay at pump there) the old farmer goes in and is gone for at least 15 min. I was about to pull his Old Chevy up so I can get my 10 gallons of fuel. Out he came with some stuff in a bag, a hot dog and big drink... I finally get in there put in the fuel and when I looked in and the fuel was NASTY full of bugs & debris... argh. Pointed it out to the clerk and se was like ahh ya it has been filling slow all week! Looks like I'll be filtering my fuel before using it & added a double dose of fuel treatment.

I loved the older cars that had the fuel fill under the rear license plate... could fuel from either side.

I get annoyed when the "big rigs" block the off road diesel pumps and go into the store and have a meal. Local truck stop has a Burger King attached and for some reason they cant move the trucks until the eat???? They fuel up go inside to pay then get food and you see them ten or fifteen minutes later carrying their little bag of food back to their truck that's blocking the pumps. They ignore the signs telling them not to block the pumps.

Driving an ice truck I spent way too much of my life waiting on gas station ilk. The #1 place to park at a gas station is in front of icebox #2 is diesel pumps. Then they go in and buy lotto tickets 1 at a time. "I'll take a number two" cashier gets it and rings up "anything else?" "I'll get a number 5". While cashier gets it they start scratching off the previous one. Repeat 5 to 10 more times. GAAHJ!!!
My personal favorite was maneuvering a truck preparing to unload they zip in the parking spot you are backing in.
Can't forget cars so impatient they zip around you while backing like you could see them.
Thanks for the flood of rageful memories :D

you too? we have a racetrack and it only has 2 diesel pumps.. and 16 total.

the 4 inner lanes can be empty.. and there will be the gas job drivers crowding the 2 outside lanes wher ehte 2 central diesel pumps set. IE.. they set between/ inthe center on each outside row. however the diesel only serves 1 direction.. it's not a dual pump.

I was in with my duially today with a load of sod needing fuel and waiting till the gas drivers got out of those 2 lanes. sadly.. as i said. the entire middle was open.

deffinately inconsiderate.

This is a big pet peeve of mine, and cause me to wait 15 minutes today :mur:

You know, those gas stations with 16 pumps, and only 4 of them are diesel, and those 4 ALSO have gas at them.

I pull in today on my way back with the tractor and GN trailer. Now since the pumps are soo close to the building, there are only 2 that I can get at with the trailer on. Lo an behold sits a gasser truck, and a little ford focus. OF the 12 other freakin pumps, only 2 are being used :mur::mur:

I can understand if the place is packed and those were the only two pumps, but give me a break. People who have never owned a diesel, probably never give it a second though.

And to top it off, the gassers that are always hogging the diesel pumps, are the ones who always have to pay inside :mur: So just as you see them place the handle back and think you're all set, WRONG, another 5 minutes wasted....

It's weird you posted this. A few days ago I had to meet some clients with my 2 atv's to show them a 500 ac tract of land my wife has listed for sale. The other agent was also trailering 2 atv's & wanted to meet at the Walmart. Somehow I got there an hour ahead of them. I parked facing the Murphy(Walmart) gas station and proceeded to watch the "show". Keep in mind this was a busy day for whatever reason...a steady stream of cars & trucks.

Within that hour I witnessed everything already posted here...and then some. I saw a woman in her 50's pull in, go to the clerk's booth and return 10 min later only to find that she had parked on the wrong side for the fuel cap...yep she walked around and actually stared at it for 20-30 seconds while glancing at the fuel pump on the other side of her car. No, it was not a rental...local tags. Then she backed up and did a 8 point turn around to line things up...all while someone else was patiently waiting to use that pump. Then....yep she went back to the booth.......????.....for what I have no idea. A few min later she returned and managed to start pumping gas. Her whole "ordeal" took well over 20 min and my biggest question of the day is HOW ON EARTH DOES SHE SURVIVE FROM DAY TO DAY.

I also watched a elderly guy with white knee high socks and sandals pump his gas(car also waiting for that pump), pay at the booth, then return to squegee his windshield aaaannnd his read window, aaaannnd his tail lights/headlights. Really???

The diesel pumps were on the opposite of the booth, so I could not see what was going on over there, but I can say I saw several trucks wait a long time to fuel up. LD your right, NO ONE pays attention to their surroundings. It's no wonder how some people become victims of crimes...watch a gas station for an hour and you will understand the Darwin Awards much more intimately.
