I have a Kubota L3940. I'm considering the WR Long FBM 84 front blade for the upcoming winter. I also could use it for various plow jobs around the farm.
Anyone have experience with this blade? Good, bad or otherwise? I have the LA 724 loader and have some minor concerns about "tweaking" the loader arms with a front blade. Should I be concerned?

Some debate on this,I haven't had a problem with my FEL mounted plow, but I only move snow with it not dirt/stone.Not familiar with WR Long, mine is a converted Curtis truck plow.As long as the trip springs are working properly you shouldn't have a problem.Mine is an 96in on a L4240 and 854 loader.

Thanks for the reply. I think an 84" is all my 724 loader can handle.

I have a FEL snow plow. It is the style that relies on the loader float. The problem is you have the weight of the loader riding on the plow also and it cuts in on gravel bad. Also since you are using float when you start to push snow it takes weight off the front so you are not getting full use of 4WD and the tractor does not steer good. I think a plow that floats from the quick attach would be the better way to go. I am trying to sell my plow and I am going to convert a truck plow for use on the tractor.

Any good snow plow will have a spring trip so if you hit something it fold over to protect the loader. I think a 7' blade is good match for your tractor.

Thanks for the info. Good things to keep in mind.

No problem, It took about 10 minutes of plowing on gravel to learn all that:laughing:

A couple thing I forgot to mention are your loader is a hair lighter than mine so that will help reduce the weight on the skid shoes. The WR Long blade is 300lbs lighter than my blade so that will also help with it digging in. If you are going to be plowing on level ground you hold the blade up a couple of inches so it won't dig in but it is hard to do that on uneven terrain.

I don't use the loader float function to plow. I adjust the skid shoes a hair below the blade and make sure the blade is neutral (level).

I don't plow until the ground is frozen either, the first few light snows just drive over it to pack it down.

Plowing with the loader in float is ok for pavement, but will drive you bonkers in gravel, especially if the gravel is not packed. The blade will ride up over harder areas and dig in where it's soft, making humps and bumps and divots. This just exacerbates the rocking horse movement of the tractor creating more humps and bumps.

I angle the blade and lower it until the second skid shoe just hits the ground and go. (I have lateral float so one shoe always hits first). You keep a lot of weight on the tractor so you aren't loosing traction. Try it, you will like it!
