How can I tell if I have enough hydraulic fluid in my Kubota tractor. It has a site glass for the transmission and it uses the same hydraulic fluid. When I look in the fill hole behind the seat I can't see any hydraulic fluid in there. I just want to make sure I have enough in it, can anyone tell what to look for.

By chance is hyd fluid over full therefore not being able to see the level line in sight glass?

I can see hydraulic fluid in my site glass, it is full, but the manual says that's for the transmission. I just want to make sure I have enough hydraulic fluid to run my 3 point hitch. does that site glass tell me that its good for the transmission and the three point hitch? I have let a friend use my tractor and he has mentioned that he can't see any fluid were you fill it up behind the seat. Everything is working fine and am just being causes.

That's what I was thinking too that it was all in one compartment, even thought it has two spots to put hydraulic fluid in. Thanks for your reply.

Why not just drain a gal of fluid and look at the sight glass.

If you do not see any fluid line, then fill until you see a line.

That sounds like a good suggestion, I will try that, thanks for your reply.

Good morning. I started draining all the fluids on my 2002 kubota l3000dt with lb402loader which is hydaulicly plumbed from behind the seat. My question is later today i plan on replacing the fluids and i am confused by the manual. The manual states that there are two fill points, one directly over the transmission and the second behind the seat, which i have found both, but the manual does not differentiate how much fluid goes in each compartment, it states roughly 7.4 gallons total. Can someone please elaborate on how much the trani case takes and how much the hydro reservoir takes?*Or am i misunderstanding this? Do i only need to add hydro oil to behind the seat and from there the trani case also receives the oil???

The two Kubotas in my life each have two filler ports for the same tank. I imagine that your machine does too.

If you're filling the tank by yourself, it can be hard to see the sight glass yourself since you're at the back of the tractor and the glass is in the side. When I replaced my fluid, I couldn't see much difference in the sight glass when it was empty and when it was full. I was told that you need to see a bubble similar to that on a carpenter's level. Also the sight glass was supposed to appear a bright white color if it was below level. With new fluid, the color change is subtle. It's also easy to miss seeing this if it goes even a little above the glass. My solution was to drag my wife out there and have her watch the glass as I filled the tank. Once I knew what to look for, it was easier. I'd rather have a dipstick!
