Suzue walking tractor
G'day all,

I bought a rotary hoe last year and I've finally got it going and doing some rotary hoeing. Its a Japanese unit called SUZUE. I've been all over the net trying to find out a bit more about it and have come up empty. I've been told it's a kubota but I'm not to sure about that.

Anyway, in my travels I discovered that it is a 2 wheel tractor with the rotary hoe attatchment.

Now that I know what a 2 wheel tractor is I'm excited and have big plans for it. The main thing I want to do is put a trailer on it.

Here is the tractor with the original 17HP diesel engine.

I got the engine going but it has now stopped again so I have replaced it with a 16hp Chonda.

Is the rotary hoe detachable? Does it have a 'draw bar'? Good to see another Aussie. There is another thread on here (which I started because we have a two wheeled tractor) on two wheeled tractor trailers. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/2-wheeled-tractors/295406-walk-behind-tractor-trailer-ideas.html The only thing really different between yours and ours is belt versus gear drive, but if it still works that's all that matters.

Hi,

yep, the rotary hoe comes off and I've had to take it off because I broke it. There were 2 pieces that fit together, they look like, what I've seen described as, PTO splines. I probably wrecked them trying to dig very hard ground. They were disfigured and cracked and the rotary hoe wouldn't work any more. I'm never going to be able to get parts for this thing but I spoke to a guy who makes gears and he said he could remake them for $300. I thought about it and couldn't see why they had to be in 2 pieces. (I'll probably find out one day) I decided to weld the 2 pieces together. I got that done for 10 bucks and it is working fine.

It has a draw bar.

It looks pretty solid. I may be getting an old car trailer and I'll just adapt that to fit. I've read your thread and have been gooling everywhere to get good picures of the connections. I think I've got it worked out. I was worried that all the wieght and pressure would be where the tractor and trailer join but I haven't seen anyone raise this as an issue so I'm now assuming it isn't.

Hi! Beautiful tractor. We dont have here in america. Kubota and Yanmar make. But In China many companies clone them. I want know. Is your tractor have a differential. May be not. No brake. But very Heavy and very powerful better than ours BCS or Grillo for big jobs or for hauling trailer. Good luck! Oldmech

G'day Oldmech,

I must come clean and say I don't know enough about motors and machinery. I didn't even know what a differential was until 5 minutes ago when I googled it. I'd heard of it but didn't know what it was. Now I know what it is I'm still not sure if I have one or not, I'll have to have a look in the day time.

To steer it you squeeze either the left or right hand levers but I guess that's how most of them work.

It has 6 forward speeds and 2 reverse speeds.

Where your trailer attaches has to be solid in terms of vertical movement, otherwise when you have an empty trailer you have to push down on the handlebars, and when heavily loaded you have to pull up on the handlebars(I know this from experience). If you go to this link and click on 'other accessories' you will get trailer hitch photos. Tractor Accessories Your steering levers would have to be brakes or clutches. How hard is it to steer without the 'levers' this will probably tell you whether it has a diff or not.

G'day Ferrari,

Thanks for the link, that is exactly the info I needed. The way they explain it is the way I'll go. I have the hitch already so I'll measure it up and get someone to make up the coupler for me. Then I'll attatch it to the trailer with the water pipe and muffler clamps like they say. It looks very straight forward. Give me a coupler of weeks and I'll be back with photos of it hooked up.

I'm now pretty sure it has a diff, it is heavy and is very hard to steer with out the levers.

What accessories do you have on your machine? I've been thinking about a post hole digger for mine but it might be easier to just get a stand alone machine and use that rather than source something and fit it up, especially since I'm going to need it in a couple of weeks to build a shed.

If it is very hard to steer without the levers it probably doesn't have a diff. I have a Rotary hoe, adjustable furrower, home made ripper and home adapted trailer(that needs work on the hitch). They don't take standard attachments, so you either have to find specifically made attachments or adapt/make them your self.
