Hard to really say, we have several geared tractors as well as HST and like them all. I can understand a 32 HP not going very fast and struggling, I have driven a 30 HP geared that pulled well and those that would barely pull.

I went out to see my brother and check on the progress on my brush guard on the 5740. My brother has always loved geared tractors and has several from 27 to 72HP. He has a relatively new Kioti synchro-shuttle that he initially loved. After living with the Kubota HST and piling up some hours on the Kioti, he wishes he had gone HST. Now he loves his geared units as I do mine, but for many of us both work well.

Richard, here is a preview so far, we will do the 8540 next with the help of some work done by rustyiron.

Yep, I agree. In it's place HST is the greatest thing since sliced bread. When I hitched onto that trailer the little tractor looked at me like "Really"???Larry, you gotta start a thread about the cab protector. I'm all excited about this. I don't even have a cab and I want to build one!!! Thanks for sharing. Do that thread!!!

I will when we are done, rustyiron has done quite a bit on his 9540 ROPS to turn it into a FOPS. I think my brother is going to do something similar to his open station Kioti as he was hit in the head some time ago by a falling limb.

On the cab models he is going to add some more tubing to protect the rear lights and top.

Cool. Get some pics of his 9540 also. I'm very interested. Last Summer I had a limb come out of a tree, land crossways on the loader frame and bounce into my lap. Was only 4" by 10', never saw it coming.I'm kinda dim and might miss the thread so bump me when ya get it started. Thanks Larry!!!

LD1 your welcome too, but I know you are "a bit far"

I really appreciate the offer. But have no plans on a trip to Missouri any time soon. Probably greater odds of you towing your tractor to Ohio as me going to Missouri. But if the two of you do hook up, shoot a few rounds for me, and enjoy a cold one for me too:drink:

My tractor would pull that load just fine in 2 or 3 High, at half throttle! :D

If this goes bad we got each other's backs right Don???

I like my gear too. I dont have HST experience, but my L3400 has pulled loads quite well up hills in road gear. Only occasionally have to drop down a gear. Knowing that it is only 34 HP, I have no complaints at all. Now if I was accustomed to a 75HP tractor, yea, it may feel a little sluggish.

Rear ballast on the 3 pt hitch ... Does that cause any concern ... What about excessive weight and excessive wear on the 3 point .. I don't know myself

That's right Richard!

Gotta ask, that trailer had wheels right???
I love these posts that every once in awhile make me spit out an inopportune sip. I should know better by now to synchronize my sipping and post reading. Might have to invest in a condom for my keyboard.
