Hello, all:

I recently purchased a used JD 310SE backhoe and am trying to get the auxiliary all figured out. It looks like the previous owners ran some hoses from the rear (boom) hydraulic control valve up to the side of the machine to run some attachments. The problem is, I just attached a JRB Quick Attach coupler to the loader end thinking that the existing auxiliary hydraulic setup would work to power the locking pins and it didn't work. They had a clamshell type of pedal hooded up to it that only actuates when pushed, making it a single function, like if it had only powered simple attachments.

Seems to me that the existing setup is not electrically wired up to operate the way I need and I'm wondering if I need to add a whole other third function to the loader end of the machine to run my coupler and possibly some attachments such as a grapple or multipurpose bucket in the future. (I'm not too keen on pulling the loader control valve out of the machine to add another stack, though!)

Is the setup of a third function the same for backhoes as for tractors and such?

I do know for sure that I need a rocker switch with spring to center to operate the locking pins in and out. Does that require the use of some more advanced solenoid and subplate?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

~JV

The set-up was for using a hydraulic thumb.

Just to add some info and possibly make it easier to answer this question:

I have an Open Center hydraulic system, GPM on backhoe: 36, loader: 28, PSI on backhoe: 3,625, loader: 3,000, and the pump type is gear type tandem with unloader.

For now, I just want to use my quick attach coupler with hydraulically actuated pins, but in the future and with the same system, I'd like to operate a grapple and a split bucket.

Thanks again!!!

See, that's what I was thinking, but how does it open and close if the pedal only has one function? My machine has an extendahoe too, though, does it use the same pedal as the extendahoe?

I would repost this in the JD forum I think you will get more responses.
