I really don't know much about sail boats other than 15 minutes and I'm board. I'm a power boat guy but we have a large "Wind Fairy" club at our lake with their own large marina.

It's hull design, low cabin, and minimal design tells the story.

The boat is about 1200#. Keel is about 600#, and trailer is 1000#.

I don't know the #'s, but the sense I have of older sailboats is a crazy high keel weight.... modern racing stuff seems to have lightened up.

Good call. The boat itself is a Melges 24 and weighs less than 1,800 lbs. 630 lbs of that is the keel bulb. The Subaru is the H6 model, a 3 liter flat six with 250hp. It is rated for 3,500 lbs here and 4,400 lbs everywhere else in the world.

For long hauls we use a Chevy Express.
