Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #29,971
No frost today, just a real mean northerly wind pinging hailstones off my nose and cheeks.

Interesting ... yeah ... agony is a good way to describe it.
I'm another who gets leg muscle cramps. Had them over 10 years now.
When I first mentioned it to the doc he gave me some pills that worked pretty well for five or six years.
Eventually they became less effective and the side effects got worse than the muscle cramps.
I was offered a different drug to try, however it too was only likely to be effective for up to 5 years.
As I was only in my mid-fifties at the time I thought I would keep that one in reserve and try other ways for a while.

I've picked up a few ideas from others over the years. The things that work best for me are -

Wear long socks instead of ankle length.
If I feel cramps are bad, a soak in a hot bath before bedtime.
Put a rubber hot water bottle at the bottom of the bed. Always try and sleep with warm legs and cool head.
Last thing before going to sleep, point toes and stretch each leg and try and hold stretched for 5s. Repeat a couple of times more.
Sleep with close fitting leg warmers, thermal underwear or cycling leggings or anything that keeps calves warm.

The other very effective measure is to take a good walk each day.
I find nothing is worse than sitting or working cramped up all day long.

Good morning all.
Warm morning here, over freezing, 34, going all the way up to 55 today. As usual that means wet weather is coming in, later this afternoon into tonight, steady rain, half inch predicted. Which might be what dumps more snow on the North.
Well until then, a whole nice day to be out in. Kinda sore from yesterday's hundred feet a day, right hand and wrist all puffed up.
It is really challenging to learn how to "lead" with my left hand instead of my right when I've spent a lifetime doing everything with my right.
Likely why it doesn't work so well now...
Since many of you are reading this with a coffee or tea mug in your hand:
That delicious first cup of coffee, when the flavor is the best, is going down nicely. In the range of light to dark, somewhere around a six to seven is the darkness I like. Not French roast or the bitey dark stuff, but full flavor and smooth. Interesting the price/cost is in the same range, about seven bucks a pound. The sale/low end coffee here starts around five dollars a pound, then the store brand, which isn't bad, around high sixes to seven dollars, and then in the 7 to 9 range the Starbucks and other heavily advertised stuff kicks in. Like in buying wine, at some point there is rapidly diminishing returns spending more for coffee. Though some expensive stuff is always wonderful to get as a present. As you are magically transported to the peaks of Peru or the slopes of Sarawak. Actually some of you guys freezing your rears off might rather be transported to the jungles of Borneo....all from that first sip. Hey, the label says it will....
Well, you'll sure be glad you had a cab tractor when you drop down in that Borneo jungle. That's a really big snake crawling over your glass....doors locked? All from the first sip. This morning I am enjoying Peru Sunrise.
May there be something else in your coffeemaker other than Deep Drift Delight.

27 heading to 46, and then some sleet tonight.

Well, it's Super Bowl Sunday. I'm not a huge NFL fan, but do enjoy watching a few games a year. Well, the Seattle QB is from Richmond, so I'm pulling for the SeaHawks. Good luck with your pick and your pool. Wife is coming home from NC today, so there should be something good to eat tonight during the game. :)

Drew, yes, a coffee mug is in hand. Coffee is very black and dark. I have a very nice grinder, and today's beans came from Peet's by way of Costco at a good price for the 2 pound bag. Hard to find an actual pound of coffee anymore - most of the brands package in a smaller quantity.

Drew, better take a day off from your trail blazing and rest that hand.

7F headed to low teens--maybe. Clear sky.

I'm drinking Dunkin Donuts original blend this morning. I'm not being transported like some. Drew, what is in your coffee? :D

Tomorrow's snow forecast is down to 5-8", that sounds better than 8-12". Our average annual snowfall is 7.5'. A 10' year comes along now and then. We've had lots of moisture this winter.

29F and maybe some light snow @ 06:45 ... doesn't look like we got more than a dusting so far ... I'm sure that will change soon enough.

Was a very long day yesterday - somewhere around 28 hours or so I think - but I got a lot done. I think I must have slept around 12 hours ... fortunately no cramping after I fell asleep.

Did a little clean up in the shop, including mopping some of the floor ... will be nice when I actually get running water out there again.

Put the pallet forks back together - still need to add another row of cross braces on the upgraded backstop (originally 1' tall, now 3') but I won't get around to that for a while - and then used them for my firewood collection. This is some of the ash tree I took down yesterday:

IMG_1872.JPG

Was pretty good sized ... actually had two trunks so there's a good amount of wood. Also took down two aspens - think they are big tooth - which were standing dead timber. They seem to be burning well (unlike some unseasoned aspen I tried to burn earlier this year)

My front tires are a little short on tread, and I don't have chains ... so I'm finding getting around in the woods when the ground is snow covered is a bit of challenge at times. Having a load of logs on the forks seems to help with the traction though.

Probably have enough wood at this point for 5 to 7 days ... but I think I'm going to try to get some more gathered this morning before this snow event really gets going.

Ran over all the driveway with the boxblade and FEL to get ready for today's snow fall.

Also used the pallet forks to move the MMM into the pole barn (finally) so that's out of the way ... need to do the same with the sprayer today.

Dunno if I'm gonna try to get the rear remotes hooked back up so I can use the snow blower or not.

Need more coffee.

He has me wondering too ... it sure sounds psychedelic whatever it is ...

I'm presently drinking some of Emeril's "Big Easy Bold" ... but I ain't smellin' no crawdads or etouffee ...

Now no wonder you aren't transported anywhere. You are all larded down by donuts. You are stuck in a cop car with six dozen donuts in front of you....that's where you are going.:D

my coffee says it is organic. That could cover a lot of things. Including that silly coffee made from beans popped out of a civet like critter after eating the beans. I'll leave that for the more adventurous. I am looking out over my back yard, and that's just where I want to stay.

RS, nice wood. Standing dead wood is marvelous, like btu's on a platter.
