No frost today, just a real mean northerly wind pinging hailstones off my nose and cheeks.
Interesting ... yeah ... agony is a good way to describe it.
I'm another who gets leg muscle cramps. Had them over 10 years now.
When I first mentioned it to the doc he gave me some pills that worked pretty well for five or six years.
Eventually they became less effective and the side effects got worse than the muscle cramps.
I was offered a different drug to try, however it too was only likely to be effective for up to 5 years.
As I was only in my mid-fifties at the time I thought I would keep that one in reserve and try other ways for a while.
I've picked up a few ideas from others over the years. The things that work best for me are -
Wear long socks instead of ankle length.
If I feel cramps are bad, a soak in a hot bath before bedtime.
Put a rubber hot water bottle at the bottom of the bed. Always try and sleep with warm legs and cool head.
Last thing before going to sleep, point toes and stretch each leg and try and hold stretched for 5s. Repeat a couple of times more.
Sleep with close fitting leg warmers, thermal underwear or cycling leggings or anything that keeps calves warm.
The other very effective measure is to take a good walk each day.
I find nothing is worse than sitting or working cramped up all day long.
