What is the part that is connected to the drag link or tie rod end that has 3 hydraulic ports in this picture? The black part. This person come up with a homemade power steering for his 8n. Found the picture on yesterday's tractor. Here is the description the pic poster gives.

"This shows one side of my homemade power steering for my 8N. It cost me about 56 for the 2 hydraulic cylinders (on ebay), 50 for the smallest double-acting valve I could find (from surplus center) and maybe another 20 for the black pipe and fittings. I didn't count the cost of the hydraulic hoses since I already had those. Anyway it works great and I wanted to pass it along to others. I have many other pictures but not sure the best way to upload those. I'll try to get more info here to help other. Thanks, Charlie"

It looks to be some kind of a power steering valve off a auto of some sorts. Thanks in advance if you know what it is or where to get it.

Never did find any more pics of this setup. I searched on surplus center for what he was calling a double acting valve but didn't find anything that looked like that.

Most likely the DA valve the guy said he got for $50, but a better view wouldn't hurt.

I think most of the later series 841 any with powersteering used a doubleacting valve to activate powersteering.

I think most of the later series 841 any with powersteering used a doubleacting valve to activate powersteering.

Power steering on at tractors was a valve block in the middle of the steering column. Industrials can have similar or cable operated valve, row crops used a valve in cyl setup
