Chinese Laminate?

I caught the story on 60 minutes last night. Doesn't sound good. Corporation, lawyers, state regulations. off shore manufacturing and Wall Street. What could possibly go wrong?

Right on. I'm glad he was up front and he states that they can build a compliant product. Makes me wonder who suggested the false label.

It does make you wonder if he came to the conclusion that marking non-conforming product with a label that identifies it as conforming was his idea. If it wasn't his idea, then whose idea was it?

Hey, mister - watch where you're putting your invisible hand of the market!

Sounds like the sheetrock gate a few years back. After a hurricane a lot of house were built with Chinese sheetrock. I don't remember the specific problem but quite a few had to be stripped and re rocked.

The drywall issue was due to sulfur. Sounds like this is due to the formaldehyde in the glue?

It sounds like the Chinese mill was told to produce a product at a given price point and that is what they did. The question is who told the mill and did they know that the lower price would require formaldehyde?

I've never used their products because I've never found there to be a savings with what they have to offer. They have a store here in Tyler, but the prices are nothing to get excited about and most of what they sell is low quality junk that fails quickly. Just in the box at the store, you can see it chipping in the corners.
