PB valves have either a PB adapter or a hex plug PB adapter.

Both of these devices separate the main gallery so the tank fluid flows through the OUT port, and the pump fluid flow through the PB port for downstream operations.

J_J thanks for the reply. I'm familiar with the plug on the left but not the hex plug. Does one install hex plug deeper in valve to block an orifice then attach fitting for hose to valve body? Can this same valve be utilized as a closed center valve? If so can you explain the process? Thanks,Jim

An example of the plug type would be a 5000 series tractor. The pressure line from the pump goes to the rockshaft valve. On the valve housing are three ports to be used for power beyond. When attaching hose to these ports, you remove the pressure port plug. Inside of this port is a tapped hole to install the pipe plug. This blocks oil flow to the rockshaft and diverts flow to the power beyond attachment. The return oil from attachment then goes back into the rockshaft to feed rockshaft through return port. The third port is for"tank". Some attachments need no resistance to flow. If return line is routed to tank port, the rockshaft will not operate. If the internal passage is not blocked the plug, nothing will operate since there would be two paths for oil to go and fluid will take path of least resistance.

Yes, the hex plug does install inside valve that use this configuration. The galleries are separated with cyl flow going to the OUT port and pump flow continues downstream.

If you want CC, then install a plug in that PB port.

If the valve uses a PB adapter, and you want CC, then install a Plug in the PB port.
