Good morning! 41˚ I won't see it this low again till December, enjoying it. Clear skies heading to 76˚.

The 20 year old swing was repaired, painted and rehung in the once sand pit now a reclaimed park area. The grass seed has been planted, just waiting for a good soaking rain.

35F cloudy and calm. Upper 40's later this afternoon.

The snow has melted enough to get the tractor out and pull back some of the piles with gravel in them that are out-of-bounds along the driveway. That greatly reduces raking later.

This says Larro lives in the perfect US place to survive. At the end I think there is a shot of the Chipola River, at least it looks a lot like Larro's pics:

39* and falling, overcast day.

Txdon - nice job on the swing. My parents have an old swing on their porch that came from my mom's parents. At least 100 yrs old. The front piece under the seat cracked years ago, so I cut a replacement and it has been good as new ever since. It just needs a nice new paint job like you did on yours.

Poured first cup of coffee. 65° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 92° with bright sun. Off to the Tempe Art Festival. Good place to find those things that you do not need. But buy anyways,
Drew, a dog that does not need a fence is whats needed. We have one of those.
Gary, cute puppy.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning. 0835, overcast, 62F with 95% humidity. Forecast high of 65F with 80% chance of morning showers, and a low of 43F tonight. I got half the garden planted yesterday. Will work on the rest of it today.

Yep, that is the Chipola River. Jackson County is a few miles north of the Larro Ranchero. That is where the rich "Larro's" live. My poor part of the family is down here in Calhoun County. But we are too crowded already. Five or six cars came by on the road yesterday while I was working in the garden. So if any of you are Preppers, I would take it as a personal favor if you went somewhere else:eek: {It's not that I don't like folks, I just don't like them to be where I'm at}

Hope everyone has a good day,

Larro

Debating on what to amend my garden soil with. Mushroom compost, cotton seed meal, turkey compost? Trying to keep the cost to a minimum. My garden is about 20' x 60' and full of weeds right now. I have only been able to plant some onions and strawberries so far.

Mushroom compost is highly valued in New England at least, and sure in PA since Kennett Square is the home of mushrooms. We even had some low grade hay taken off our farm fields in PA several times that went to Kennett Square to bed new mushrooms. It's when it comes back full of nutrients that it becomes like black gold. Some folks do not like using animal remains as compost, so I thought the mushroom compost would be a vegan delight but not so, they fertilize the mushrooms with manure. I personally avoid anything animal based other than bone meal. But I suppose what's next to worry about. Non GMO compost? Who tests this stuff to back up any of these claims anyway...

Never used the soil test kit I got, and obviously should. I'm sure we all want nitrogen, but then what? Real farmers know all about this, chemistry is important to the end result, and a huge cost to the farmer.
There are bags of "organic" compost at Lowes. I should read the package and see what's in there. If one can have organic beef, then does it not confirm that there will be organic animal based compost? And should I care, not like too many people around here get hoof and mouth disease.

Kyle, do you need a dump truck full or five bags worth? I would also think you would not have to do this every year; what was done last year? If you gave it a double shot of fertilizer love last year, you might not need much this year.

thanks for the tips on dogs and women. Important parts of our lives...
I'm in low low gear at the moment.

I thought it was an interesting coincidence since you have told us much about your area and productive gardening.
