70 going to 90 with PM showers.

Had to move the bull, he is in love with my mare... she is in season. Of course he could walk under her because of size differences, but hormones are what they are. Yesterday I changed the solenoid on the mower to discover it has 2 wires that were cut by the shifter. Repair those today. I also started discing the other 2 acre back field to start getting it ready to plant Winter Rye the first of Oct.

I got a new phone from AT&T last week, and they promoted the new Galaxy 6 active saying it was very durable. Well... not when a disc runs over it!!! :confused3: They are sending me a new one. Meanwhile this should be a nice quiet weekend.

All this talk of fuel tanks has me thinking of wanting one, but I use my 14 gallon can every 2 months. Not enough to warrant a big tank, and using the forks to lift the can, it flows into the tractor quite nicely. I have 2 of them, one I painted yellow for diesel, and the other has marine gas for mower, pressure washer, sprayer, chainsaws, and yard equipment.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

Don, is that enough head gear to join your gang ?

You're in!

Good morning! 77˚ heading to only 99˚. I missed my 2 hour window of coolness yesterday morning, moving the hoses around, so I'll try to hit the oil change this morning.

cakes baked, then said this is silly and went back for a one hour catnap. That did the trick.
off to work on some firewood, though I won't fire up the chainsaw until 9am. Good time to use my electric one to cut the small
limbs.

uploader broke again, no pics...:(

71F @ 5:30AM. Mostly sunny. High 99F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Very fashionable, Eric. You and Don may just ignite a trend!

Looks like China's paying the price for uncontrolled growth and more poor management. That explosion there was scary just to watch, let alone being there (caution: Strong language). Maybe it'll be enough of a wake up call for them to get their own version of OSHA going. It would certainly help even the playing field when it comes to international competitiveness.

Drive line's back on the bike, center and side stands, too, along with the back fender, battery and foot rests. But I put my finger through the rear brake master cylinder reservoir while attaching it, kind of a good thing as it would have made a heck of a mess if it happened out on the road. I suppose 30 years of sun embrittled the plastic, but it wasn't that thick to start with. Unbelievably the part's in stock at the dealer, and only twenty bux! Today I'll see if I can find my valve shim tool in case I need to swap some around when I check valve clearance. Who knows when it was done last. These motors last forever (this one has over 100K miles on it), but only with proper care.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!

It IS a good morning here. 55 and the wind storm died down early this morning. Any time we have a wind storm the dust rises up like the Devil's own breath.

Good Morning. 0925, sunny, 80F with 76% humidity. Forecast high of 90F with 20% chance of rain today, and a low of 73F tonight. We had a storm blow through yesterday afternoon that was heavy on lighting, but light on rain. It didn't really matter to the half of my freshly planted green patch that I left the sprinkler going on when I left for work at 0930. I talked Margie into leaving her work a little early {even though her crew is getting ready for early voting in the city election} and turn it off. One side got half an hour, the other side got five and a half. We will see which comes up better.

Larro, and other Floridians, and I suppose all the rest of us, get inside sooner vs later...you may not get a later with lightning.
Wondering if someone should market tractor lightning rods in Southern states...when you don't get in fast enough.

(CNN)When lightning struck 44 Army Rangers this week in Florida, leaving 11 in the hospital, jaws must have dropped. What are the odds of that?

The answer: Very low in most places, but not so, so low in Florida.

The rough chance of being bolted by lightning in a lifetime is about 1 in 12,000, but the odds discriminate by region.

Lightning is not partial to touching down on the West Coast, but it loves the South, particularly Florida, NASA says. Local researchers concur. "Florida ranks No. 1 in the number of deaths due to lightning," says the University of Florida.

My problem with the tractor and lightning is that most of the time I have on my noise reducing headphones jamming to my mowing playlist. {heavy on The Boss, Bob Dylan, BB King, etc, etc} I never hear the thunder until it is right on top of me. But by then the black clouds are too thick to ignore.

I think golf courses {and warmer weather in general} is a leading cause of Florida being the leader in lighting deaths. There are just as many lightning strikes on the east face of the Rockies, but not near as many people hit by it. I laugh when I think about the odds of being struck by lightning twice is greater than winning the Lottery, but millions of folks line up each week to give their money away for the chance. We had a bad storm come through right before dark last night. Not much rain, but lots of lightning. It knocked the lights out for the whole of Blountstown for about half an hour. Luckily I only had a few folks in the Ball Room at the time.

68 this morning and headed to 92 today. Rain chances start tomorrow so today is supposed to be the hottest day of the week.

Managed to get half the rafters cut and installed for the shed yesterday. Also got to town and had oil changed in truck and wife's suv.

Slept in this morning. Just now headed to take care of birds. Then off to a friends house. His pond system is down so he's using county water for his chickens. (He has more chickens than I do). His pump is supposed to pull 27 amps its pulling 118. Already replaced the motor. So I'm thinking it's the capacitor box. He has a run and start capacitor. But I don't think his box is switching from start to run. 5hp 240v pump with 1000' of 2" line that climbs about 150 ft.

Then off to a cookout with the wife and her college friends and families. Hopefully a fun afternoon.

Got too hot mowing, 90* with no air moving. Mowed the back lawn this morning, sprayed some roundup along the fences, and then mowed some of the back field before deciding to give it a break for awhile. Haven't taken the BH off the tractor this summer, so am mowing with the little MF instead of being in the AC cab.

Also moved a few more things from the garage to the barn.
