My neighbor logged of his property a couple of years ago. He's letting me get all the tops I want, that were left behind. Some are getting quite seasoned, but they'll burn.

This is my first year bucking with the grapple, what pleasure!

"Doug the Dog" is helping out too...

We've got a young Border Collie (our 2nd) and they are wood/stick picken fools. Great dogs:thumbsup:

I also use those dog tags that clip onto the collar. Much better than the hanging ones.

What are boat trim hydraulics ?? I am a land lubber I guess
There is another thread on here of someone that wanted to use the hydraulics from a power trim off a boat. The cylinders have a 1" bore and a 1/2" ram. The 1/2 ram could never take the abuse of holding logs in that manner.

Thanks - I guess I missed that one.

Very nice, thanks for the links!

Do you have any problems with stuff hitting it?

I've only had it on for a little over a month, but I have put on about 50hrs of grapple and loader work.
So far, so good. The cast aluminum housing seems quite stout.

Upgraded the log splitter added a boom and an electric winch to load the larger rounds. Just cant swing them around like I use to. Added a few bars to the side of the wedge to catch some of the splits, they are getting harder and harder to lift from the ground. Also added a cup holder for good measure.

I don't do near the wood-cutting some of you here do. We just have a small wood stove that we use to supplement our propane heat - usually only on weekends. Most of what I cut is standing dead wood, and I usually go for stuff that's small enough to not require splitting.

I had been reading about things people have made for their tractors to make their cutting easier and got the idea shown in two of the pictures here. It lets me lift the log off the ground and just slice it like a loaf of bread. No muss, no fuss, no sore back. I also made the box to put on the 3-point so I can use all the room in the bucket for wood. I just fill the bucket and take it right to where I stack it.
