I have had the Gutta Gard for almost 10 years now. It works very well. Similar to the gutter helmet concept. Just solid aluminum that allows the leaves to slide over and fall down on the ground, and the water curves over the large curved leading edge and down into the existing gutter. The only time you see some water coming off down over that curved lip and hitting the ground is during a "toad strangler" any kind of normal rain it just goes in the gutter. I haven't cleaned the gutters since it was installed. It still work, and all of the downspouts run fine. It is raining today. You can install it yourself. I had the roofers install mine while they were up there. They did the whole house in maybe 15 to 20 minutes. I think I paid about a dollar a foot.. Probably more now.

This is a good time of year to look for a large home show to see lots of these products all at once. There are several available now to compare.

One thing to keep in mind .... those solid types work well but they make a great place for yellow jackets and paper wasps to build nests!!

I use something similar to Rhino guards. Home | THE RHINO I like the mesh top as it stops granules from collecting in the gutter. Once a year I take a broom up and brush them off, usually after the spring pollen dump.

I've got several water maples around my house, they used to fill the rear and west side gutters full of the little "helicopters" in the spring and large leaves in the fall.

I went with Gutter Brush because of a friends recommendation and a decent discount that was offered at the time. Large black brushes, 3' long that just slide down inside the gutter and the bristles keep all the junk from reaching the gutter. Over time, they dry up and get blown away by the wind. I haven't had them in very long, but this was the first year since I've been here that I didn't have to do a Fall gutter cleaning. Fairly inexpensive, easy to install.

I am surrounded by Maple trees. Have tried various types of screen and mesh but debris (leaves, seed, and sticks) would build up to point rain water just went over top of the gutter and require cleaning the screens. 14 - 15 years ago I had Leaf Gutter system installed and have not had to do any gutter maintenance at all. Extremely satisfied with this system.

Have friend with house in the woods, he uses gutter brush and loves them. Three to four years old
