Thanks again guys! All good advice I'm sure.

Time vs Money - Actually I am retired and can spend whatever time is required to get the job done. Within the limits of my patience that is. :) Discretionary funds are another matter. Spending some extra time getting a task completed is fine. Not being able to do it or do it with an acceptable level of quality is different. I want to spend what it takes to achieve those goals but not too much more.

So what is it with these implement manufacturers (and dealers) that the majority are afraid to put up the prices on their products? Makes me suspicious.

Pivot/offset function - I see that the Severe Extreme EA rake doesn't have it like the merely Extreme EA rake. It seems like it would be a very handy feature. Am I going to miss having it? I see that the expensive LR3784 has it but I would have to give up eating for the next year to buy it.

Removing Tines - If I wanted to rake up a bunch of loose rock but leave behind anything 2" or smaller could I take out every other tine on these rakes or would that likely lead to bent tines?

Looks like the EA Severe Extreme Uber Mega rake will be the choice for me unless there is an alternative with offset that isn't too much more.

I will be retired next year and am looking forward to it :) But the work around the house continues and my equipment choices will stay the same. My aggravation factor needs to stay pretty low.

I like a lot of the LR items but most of their equipment is out of my price range and need range. I have very difficult soil and my choices are serving me well.

The EA naming trips me up every time. They need to rethink it. I like your Uber. Accurate. The quality of everything I have purchased from EA is very good and I have no regrets with the items. But the bang-for-the buck and weight are not there for me on everything I purchase. However, EA is usually in contention.

I had to look at the offset feature you mentioned... Hmmm. I would think one would need to have some very specific requirements for this to be helpful. Certainly not for my use nor for most other folks I would imagine. All of my 3PH equipment choices of rakes, mowers, etc. need to cover my rear wheel width in operation and not much more, else I will hang up something on trees, etc.

Yes you can easily remove tines to allow passage of various sizes of material. Their tines are made in Italy and in my experience, are excellent. I have used my rake a lot and the extra 100# or so of guide wheels that have been sitting on the tines when not being used have not misshaped anything and helps with dragging rocks. And all of the tines are still shaped the same as when new, within 1/4" or so I imagine. If you will be dragging a heavy load of rocks, you will most likely need all the weight you can get to keep the rake tines from rolling over/skipping over the rocks. At times I would like a heavier rake and ROBB due to this effect. So I just keep monitoring the load building up and when the rake/ROBB starts to roll over the rocks, I just stop the tractor, backup a couple inches which allows the tines to settle back down again and then continue moving forward.

I'm lost. :confused2: Please show me the rake that ETA builds that does not have the offset feature.

I have an offset landscape rake from ETA. It gives me a lot of options for angling and setting it outboard of the tires. I would recommend offset regardless of brand.

My super uber v3.0 version is just a regular rake, no offset, no functional adjustments other than the ability to use either the standard type of top link connection/position or the floating position.

The one you recommended doesn't have it. The lesser one does. Being able to swing it to the side and get an extra 24" of clearance from the tires sounds nice. I can't really think of any particular need I have for it right now but I know that I will be really annoyed if I don't have it and run into a situation where I needed it.

I'm sure that the one without it has the much stronger frame.

That's what led me to the regular EXtreme Duty Rake in the first place. Options are good.

Being retired helps a lot with the aggravation factor. :)

It is kind of silly but then why be boring when naming stuff. It makes me roll my eyes but also makes me smile. I don't get a chuckle when looking at the Land Pride products.

Well, you got me there, I can't say as that I have EVER seen what was suppose to be an up graded implement with fewer features. I guess they figured that they didn't want to spend the additional money to have all the required features and have it stronger.

My bad and sorry that I made the recommendation. :sorry: That rake will no longer be one that I recommend. :( So with this new info, only the Land Pride LR3784 would meet your requirements in my estimation and it is simply stupid expensive.

Again, sorry for the misdirection. :ashamed:

I purchased the Land Pride LR3796 and yes it is expensive but quality control was terrible. The Clevis hookup for the Cat 2 pins was the absolute minimum and I had to spend a couple hours grinding on my QH and the rake to make it fit. Also the stand came in bent and I have to tie it up with a wire, the pin doesn't fit when the leg is in the up position. Overall it was rusty and the holes for adjustments were very rough making the adjustments very difficult.

The rake operates fine and is heavy duty but I will never purchase any Land Pride equipment in the future, quality control was horrendous.
