I am trying to replace the rubber friction wheel in the post pounder. I have the wheel assembly/holder out but can't figure out how to get the old wheel out of the case. There is a shaft that from the manual shows 2 key ways but mine also has 2 lock rings visible inside the case. How does this shaft come out - ie do I need to take the lock rings off or does the whole thing (bushings, key ways and lock rings) drive out as a unit? Thanks for any help you can be.

Here is a breakdown on the wheel assembly. Make sure PN 1516 set screw is removed. You will have to hammer on the pin to release the wheel. As you can see the head of the pin is on the left. You will have to hammer from the right side to the left side. Soak the pin with rust remover before hammering.

On the thing I have PN 1516 and another on the other side are definately grease fittings .Does the same procedure still apply ,just remove fittings as if set screws. And there is a groove machined in the shaft with 2 lock rings in it. It looks like between the bushing and side of the wheel , does something need to be done with them or do they drive out with the unit. [pin]

If your machine looks like this one. You will have to remove the sprocket first before you can do anything. Has the sprocket been removed? If no, then remove the 2 set screws with a nut then the sprocket can be removed. Once sprocket is removed, make sure you remove the woodruff key on the shaft. You don't have to remove the fittings. Put something between the wheel and housing so when you start to hammer the pin PN 2067 out, you won't damage the bushings PN 2050 & 2051. Just soak with WD40 or something similar. You will need to have something between the wheel and housing when you go to put it back together so the bushings will stay in place.
