L4200 fan belt replacement.

Hi Guys,

Could somebody point me in the direction of a step by step guide to replace the fan belt? I've no prior knowledge of the procedure.

The tension adjustment is the starting point...
Loosen the bolts that hold the alternator, then swing the alt in toward the engine, remove the belt from around the fan while fishing it out from inside the fan shroud, reverse the procedure to reinstall new belt.
BTW, if you actually Remove the alternator and then place the Shortest belt possible on the pulleys and then (With a little difficulty) remount the alternator... You will gain a little better access to the Oil fill port, located beneath the alternator... that is not really necessary but it is a little handier for my annual engine oil changes ... L4200 is A Great tractor, I love mine. KennyV

The Best (though takes a little finessing to install) is the Gates 9420 same as Gates 13A1065... It is available at O'Rileys auto parts and a lot of others... KennyV

I recently had to replace my air conditioning belt(three hours later) I removed the muffler and was done in minutes.A little PB Blaster on the bolts and they came right out.This was on a L4240 Kubota.

I started to remove the muffler for the A/C belt... But you can just get by under it to the adjustable pulley and it comes right off... KennyV

My MX5100 belt must have stretched, or just wore out. Over the last 5 years I've incrementally adjusted the tension with the alternator and now it's all the way out. I haven't put much tension on it, just adjusted to spec. Next is replacement I suppose.

Has likely worn Narrower, that lets it set lower in the pulley, after a while it either gets so narrow that it bottoms out in the pulley and slips or you run out of adjustment...
