One more off the bucket list

We've rented the cabin located on the lake of the clouds shore a few years back. I'd love to show you the many pictures we took there and in the cabin, but I note that Google blogger has deleted them. We're still trying to master why some are removed.... By the way, "Lake of the clouds" real name is Carp Lake for the escarpment that forms the lake. For marketing reasons it was renamed some years ago.

It is indeed a nice park and we've hiked every trail on it. Plus stayed in most cabins when we've hike cabin to cabin in November most years.

Lake of the Clouds is a beautiful place.

That snow record is nothing
.....The world record for the most snow in one year is now held by Mount Baker (elevation: 10,775 feet / 3,285 meters) in Washington State, USA. The Mount Baker Ski Area reported 1,140 inches (95 feet) / 2,896 cm (29 meters) of snowfall for the 1998-99 season.

And they say we do not get any snow out here

Many snow recording sites are not near any town, or where people live. The town of Hancock was named by the weather channel a few years ago, as the 3rd or 4th snowyist city in the continental USA. Snow volume is a very, very fickle thing. Our friends in west Yellowstone MT receive about 450" per year where as Houghton/Hancock MI receive an average of 230. The snow here has 6" of moisture in it and West Yellowstone has about 5". So who gets the most snow?? Again, its very fickle thing.
