Lifespan of kubota tractor

My cousin runs a rental business and they try to swap out the equipment at 1000hrs because that nets them the best price. Also, people like to rent new stuff as they show off to the neighbors. They are seeing the economic forecast for the future is iffy so they are planning to higher on the hours. He said the equipment will easily go to 3000hrs before major work.

I've got ~1700 hours on my BX2200. Works just like the day we bought it.

We do all schedule maintenance on it.

As long as you keep on the schedules, you'll be golden.

Right here. I have 5600+ hours on my little L2550DT and it is still running strong. Looks like it has been through combat but still purrs right along. REGULAR care is an absolute.

I have often heard that a tractor is a tractor from some people but there is nothing else like that so if you are selling less tht is a great line to those who don't know. Will the Kubota out last you at your age? Absolutely and if the next owner only uses the same they to will die before a kubota will with typical care. We have kubota diesel lawn mowers over 7,000 hours on the Z-series. On F-series over 10,000 hours on the tractors to have higher hours they need to be commercially or farm used. We have them living in cow manure to excess of 8,000 hours with nothing but maintenance. We have them on extended duty on the larger ones exceed 22,000 hours and yes they are original!

Given the advances in technology, I would expect a modern diesel to go more hours than an old tractor between overhauls, just like I expect a new auto engine to go a lot longer than they did 50 years ago. It seems there is a lot of fear of electronics based on lack of understanding, but who today would want a car with points and condenser or a generator and old style voltage regulator?

I am a bit taken aback by the suggestion of some posters of a 4-5000 hour life span.
My 80’s JD 950 has a bit over 5600 hrs on its Yanmar engine, and uses no oil or other fluids.

I am expecting 10,000 hours or more, with proper maintenance, and the odd repair that pops up.
Admittedly, this machine is used almost exclusively for mowing and spraying, which are not to taxing for it to endure.

I think the age especially if stored outside is a lot more of a factor.

I have a Kubota L235 purchased new in 1985 and has about 2000 hours on it (and no, it's not many hours for it's age). It's spent most of it's life outside unprotected from the weather. The sheet metal has holes that have rusted thru which means the hood and fenders. The key switch has one terminal that doesn't always make contact and I've replaced the water pump. Otherwise it starts and runs fine for the 33 years I've had it. I try to keep up on all the maintenance and can still get parts for it. I expect it to keep going for another 10 or 20 years.

JMHO - if you are 18 when you buy a new tractor and are the "average" homeowner - 100 hours per year. With proper maintenance your great grand son will still have one fine tractor - when you croak.
