You are way more laid back than I am...
Well - the trip into the dealer was uneventful. So was the visit with the dealer. The Taco Wagon is STILL in transit. An over anxious secretary saw a Pearl Blue 2500 series Ram pickup off loaded yesterday afternoon. Since she was asked to call me about the license plate - she decided it would be nice to notify me that the Power Wagon had arrived also.
Ah - the pleasures of this situation elude me. "Aren't all Ram pickups Power Wagons?" A learning experience for her.
Patience being a virtue - I must hold on tight. It's one of the few I have.
You will like the locker setup if you ever get into mud!! Same setup as the Rubicons have!!The shift lever is on the column. The 2WD, 4WDHI, 4WDLO is a knob on the lower section of the dash. Along with MANY other knobs & push buttons.
The PW has a feature that will be unique to any 4WD vehicle I've previously owned. I will be able to lock up the entire drive train - tight as a drum. The center differential & the forward and aft differentials. That will then be transmitting 25% of the power to each wheel(theoretically). One will have to be very careful to activate this feature. I've heard universal joints crack and fly apart - MANY times. Don't need that. At least, it will provide TRUE 4WD. Otherwise, each of the three differentials has Detroit-Lockers.
In my 4WD days - series 60 was the ultimate heavy duty axle/differential. The PW comes with series 80- fore and aft.
However - those who have actually been out "in it" recognize this as a fact. The truly heavy, muscular, all-decked-out rig makes a real good anchor point when winching becomes necessary. Otherwise - the owner soon becomes "deflowered" when his ubber rig has to be pulled/winched thru EVERY mud hole and bog.
Light rig, sufficient power, ultra wide tires - - the name of the game.
