I have radials (18.4x30 and 12.x24) on a 90HP Deere and the increase in pulling power is dramatic.
I have tractors with radials too and they DO make a difference, but those Trelleborg radials are a great high traction tire...

My first winter with a tractor. I have been looking for a deep snow to try it out. Last weekend they promised me 8 inches of snow but it was warmer than expected and we got 3 inches of wet slush.

I took the Piranha bar off the bucket and got as much slush off the gravel drive as possible, but it still had a thin layer of slush and water. Then it went arctic and everything froze solid and slick. It was drivable, but not walkable without fear of falling.

I decided to try the box blade with the scarifies down. It dug through most of the ice and into the frozen gravel just enough to stir up the top quarter inch of stone. Then I back bladed it. Worked better than expected.

Has anyone else used the box blade to break up ice?

I did my 400 hour service today, and changed my rear tires to the widest option. The Kubota SUDT is pricey, but did quiet the HST down enough so that I can hear the engine while going down the road. At least I will only be buying it every 18 months or so.

This afternoon I tried to break out some of my trails in anticipation of cutting some wood, but without my chains on I am better off tilting windmills. I won't get much done either way, but at least doing the latter I won't be breaking anything. :D

I've been waiting for somebody to answer, as I've been wondering how that would work. I've been planning to build a box blade, as I have plenty of material around and need the welding practice; and gouging ice would be one of the main purposes.

The B7200 hadn’t had a recent workout, and either had I. The solution was good for both of us. I used it to carry an elliptical machine to the front door to our sun porch, then moved the EM inside for some winter workouts. Both worked well, although I was much rustier that the tractor. I got in a bit of firewood between yesterday and today. Found a couple cherry trees down, back a path close to house. Was nice yesterday, about 50º, so it was sloppy, but I pulled out the logs to the clearing by the highway, and got them cut, and about 2/3 of it split and hauled to the barn. The last third I split and stacked today, temp dropped to 20º and falling. Probly about 1/3 of a cord all told. One IBC basket full, part of another. We will mix it with good dry seasoned wood and likely burn it this season. It was all dead, so might be dryer than fresh cut green wood. We supplement with wood heat, but does knock down the gas furnace bill.

great picture. That looks like way more fun than my shoveling wet heavy dirt into a ditch

Ever since you put those limb risers and roof on that tractor I drool when you show a close up like that.

20190129_122804.jpg Looks like someone dont like the tipsy feeling by widening out the tires and like me likes a little limb protection.
