Glock 43

Same here, one of my all time favorites, I'm thinking about buying another good used one to pass on. I've had several 1911s and never found a reliable one. I am selling my last one this weekend and pick up a Kimber or similar to see how they shoot.

ALERT: No need for anyone to flame me on the 1911, I'm still a little crispy over my last comment on them.
I have the Kimber Master Carry Ultra 45 never had a misfire.
I do have a Colt 1911 double diamond and number matching python never taken out of the box.
My son is on the job now he will get the Smith mod 66

Same here, when my son was hired, he had sold his Glocks from when he was a uniformed officer, so I gave him my G23 and G27 duty weapons. He may not shoot it, but he wants it.

I'm selling my Python and other collectables so someone else can appreciate them, they were too expensive for me to shoot.

Love Pythons, wish I bought one 30 years ago.. Colt just started making the King Cobra again, it's a far cry from the King Cobra I remember..

I was in federal law enforcement ement and a range instructor for over 20. When I started we carried S&W model 19's. Fired supervel 357 ammo, incht fire was a joke, flame thrower. No night vision after first. Ended up changing as an agency to a 38+p+.

After the events in Miami we ended up initially with Sig p226's but turned them back in to Sig when they came out with the P 229 in 357 sig. I've been retired for 14 years now and the P 229 is still in use.

My personal carry weapon is a P365 which I like a lot. Had a Glock 26 but it didn't fit my hand. Carried a Kahr CM 9 for a long time and still would be carrying it but I like the almost double capacity of the P365.

Just my 2 cents.

As I have said earlier, I want an easily concealable, completely reliable 9mm. From what I can read and from the people I have talked to the Glock 43 is what I want. I am looking for somebody to say DON'T buy it because...?.

Nobody has said that yet.

Caliber of the weapon does not matter. SHOT PLACEMENT is what matters. Doesn't matter if you carry a 25 or a 45. If you don't hit your target in the right place he ain't going down. Getting a second shot on target is the next most important thing. Ammo for a 9mm is about the cheapest you can buy. Cheap ammo means you practice more. More practice means more hits in critical areas of the target. More practice means you get that second shot off on target quicker and more accurately.

Does anybody have anything bad to say about the Glock 43?

The three gun stores I have visited in the past week were all talking about the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 380 EZ. Apparently they are selling large numbers of these to women and older men. They are a large weapon for a 380. The slide is the easiest to rack I have ever handled. And they are large enough that they don't have the recoil of the smaller 380s. At all three shooting ranges they were laughing about all the women out shooting their husbands with these less powerful pistols. The point was made that those women with that weapon would put a bullet center mass or in the head of an attacker very reliably. They can recover quicker and get a second and third shot off in very little time. That is what counts.

Yes. I can say something bad about the G43. The G43 X is more comfortable in my hand with a better grip, it holds 4 more rounds, is only 3/4” taller, and is prettier. But seriously, the 43 is a great gun. But I still like my Sig 365 better. It has a better trigger, is smaller, and has a higher capacity. You really couldn’t go wrong with any of these three.

As far as the 380 EZ, the slide is certainly so easy to operate. But dang it’s a big gun for a .380. And every .380 I’ve ever owned was very finicky with ammo, and seemed to have problems with reliability. Maybe the Smith is better.

If you have to use it, put the shots where they count, then put a second right beside it as quickly as possible.

Amen. "anything worth shooting once is worth shooting twice"

RSKY,

By all means get your hands on various brands. I believe it's personal preference a among the big brands. My CC is an MP9 Shield w/crimson trace. It felt best in my hands vs. the small Glocks and Sig. I also have a full size MP9 so the stripping/take down is consistent, etc. My hands are L with XL fingers. As someone mentioned, the Pearce grip extensions make it far more grippable if that is a word. I'm a big fan of putting Talon grips on as well.

Oh and I forgot to mention the MP9 Shield has one more round capacity than the Glock. You said, convince me not to buy a Glock! :D

And this if you are not a hickok45 fan already, I listen to this guy...

And this is a direct comparison between the Glock 43 and MP9 Shield. I saw this after my purchase but I think it is a very fair review and comparison and it validated my choice. WATCH THIS VIDEO.

My State Police uses a .357 magnum (New York).. and btw, the officers shots all hit the suspect!.
My buddy was a city cop when .38s were the norm. He said state troopers carried .357s. Everyone called them "blockbusters" because the troopers often shot at the engine of a car to try and stop someone.
