Utility Tractors Made in India

It's all about money. My understanding is that the red pigment that doesn't fade is much more expensive than the red that does fade.

Also the rest of the world particularly where Mahidra's market is, doesn't care much about paint, but only how well the mechanicals work. Unfortunately for Mahindra this isn't so for North America.

Much of that world has no emission controls, and not much if any for safety regulations or concerns, functionality and the ability to be overloaded and repaired when necessary with minimal tools and equipment.
When Mahindra really got going with tractors was after they bought out the IH/Farmall tooling and designs.
The same as their best vehicle project and the one that got them going was the license to build jeeps along with the specs and design.

Exactly! I don't think they are bad units at all, but we seem to distrust anything not made here, I remember when Kubota 1st came into the market and everyone was saying....japanese crap, won't last more then a couple of years, we know better now. Tata of India owns Jaguar-LandRover, the turks are manufacturing very good tractors for the 2 & 3 world, the chinese are going to Europe with their tractors, either made in China or european made, but owned by the chinese yet we are overcomplicating our own machinery to the point that one will need an IT degree to operate a tractor. Where is my ox, I need to plow a plot! :)

There are some factories in China that build a decent quality product, India builds pretty decent stuff, they are smart people and hard working people.

If someone buys one tractor and it turns out not so good, all of a sudden where ever is was built builds low quality equipment..

Here in California, the oxen will be gone first. Bovine farts cause global warming, you know!

the real irony though is that much of what people bi+*** about is actually making the tractors more user friendly; or else to reduce emissions, while the rest of the world claims that "The US should be doing more about pollution."

A lot of it goes back to what you pay for it to begin with; Jinma or Belarus for instance, are more suited for people who are willing to do their own work, and are able to wait for any parts which they need.

I don't know about Jinma, but MTZ (Belarus) are built that way on purpose so that they can be fixed in the field. I'd not be adverse to using a MTZ tractor at all, here in Canada Parts aren't a problem and I don't think in the US either. They've streamlined a lot parts delivery, in addition since they all use the same parts what fits in one will fit in 'tother.

^^^^
I only know of one person here who still runs one, but if memory serves correctly he says that many of the parts are generic so that he can get them through a local auto parts store.

i have a 5055e. i've had it almost 6 years. it has almost 500 hours on it. in that time i have changed the engine oil twice. changed the filter twice. tightened a hose clamp on the radiator, top off the coolant. replaced the battery. it has been great. only issue, i use tat word loosely is one of the lights on the dash to show the blinker are flashing has burned out. the blinkers still work, but the dash light doesn't, not a big deal.

i haven't looked at the newer 5 series, but i wouldn't be afraid of a tractor made in India. the Deeres are still made by Deere in a Deere factory from parts sourced all over.

all brands have a crap tractor or two, you can read on here about a bad tractor from every brand. it really sucks when it is YOUR tractor, but the brands now a days seem to be pretty good. buy what you like and what fits you, end of story
