Someone say hardwood? Took every ounce of oomphf for the JD to pick this up, & that's as high as I could get it. Felt quite dicey in the rear with it in the air. I had very little traction, especially trying to move it up a slight incline. Probably wouldnt have been so bad if the rears were still loaded. Previous owner had calcium in there & it did quite the number on the rims. After I got this beauty of a log off to the side, I pushed it the rest of the way.

A 175 loader has a lift around 2000 lbs to full height. The bucket, plus forks plus distance out takes away some lift. But you are barely off the ground so it is probably back around 2000 +/-. So yes, that is heavy. It looks wet too but should dry nicely.

LoaderMan I see your front tires are feeling the strain.

I blocked up a pile of firewood I cut earlier this winter.

A dealer - they are a Scandinavian product. I used Reed Supply, ReedSupplyCompany.com there is also a dealer in NH, WindyRidgeCorp.com. There must be others but both those are fairly local to me but both will ship I believe. Very good chains. I can't remember a year like this as far as persiseant icy conditions go. I could not do w/o them.

Wow and wow again, a 55hp tractor cant pick that 16"x 8' hardwood log up, what is it, oak? Even still I'd be very disappointed in that size tractor........... Have you thought of trying Ballast Star, or Rim Guard? Home | Ballast Star Inc. | Liquid tire ballast for farm tractors Rim Guard - The Original Liquid Tire Ballast

I thought it was a great weekend to get some firewood out, just love snow logging......... Only had one contrary tree but with a little FEL work was able to make it un-contrary. And it always boggles my mind, mostly in Europe, when I see tractor logging where they have no FEL. For me a tractor with no FEL in the woods is useless.

And this is one reason why I couldn't make a living cutting firewood, I like to keep the brush piled up and out of the way of the deer heard.

I stocked up on some cheap totes @$25 each. Most everywhere else is $40-$80.

Was about 1/2 mile from work, so I'd just drop by and get them 2x2. Convenience couldn't be any better (unless they were AT work, I suppose).

Ended up getting 20 of them. Gotta draw the line somewhere. The smashed up one (lower right), I got for free.
