All our town roads are gravel and they are starting to break up and become muddy so I brought the last two loads of fir I had to the log yard today before it got to bad. We are on the north side so everything here is still froze solid and after to 50* weekend icy again. A couple pics of the last load. Ever since the minimum length went from 10'-6" to 12'-6" I wish I had a longer truck. It's hard to steer when you hit an icy patch. Good thing the snow banks are solid :)

Do they go for studwood? The mills around here are taking smaller and smaller wood, and one place is starting a mill specifically to turn small fir into 2x3's and 2x4's.

I lot of it does. There is a stud Mill in Milan NH about 50 mi away. A lot goes up to Canada too. The spec is 6" minimum top but they take 5-1/2" without saying a word.

Most places here take them down to 4". With the softwood pulp market opening up, getting rid of small and poor quality wood is getting easier.

The first thing this past Sat I got ready to cut the cord if the time comes, I now have a tool to do it, anytime any where so no more trying to work with frayed cable, nasty stuff. Almost did break the cable this weekend when the trees come up against a stump, so when the tractor started to slide back I took that as a hint. Just because I can dont mean I want to, but and when the time comes I'll try that blue cable ending thing I bought last year in the 3rd picture, top left under the cab, might have to zoom in to see it, hoping that will work better then cable clamps.
